Thanks for the update. I actually panicked when the site would not load. I even switched computers. Thank you VERY MUCH for maintaining the site. Johnby movingwater - Mountain Goats
I agree. I have never paid that much to see the Mountain Goats perform I WOULD pay that much, but not if he is just going to play a few tunes as part of someone else's show. Please, John, let us in on the plan!!by movingwater - On The Road
I agree about the show at the Cedar. As always John was great, but there was something wrong, and i don't know what it was. The Cedar should have been a great spot, large but not too big, nice and close stage, etc, but the night was just off somehow. I hope the Varsity is better.by movingwater - On The Road
Maybe the greatest break-up song I know: Somebody Else's Parking Lot In Sebastopol (was: Somebody Else's Parking Lot in Santa Cruz) outside the opera house in sydney, i saw my life come crashing to its end. i cried out to the scale-tipper on whom all living things depend. strings of giseppe verde suffuse the evening air. i wished, i wished, i wished that god would kill me, instead of lby movingwater - Mountain Goats
He did a kick-ass, hard rocking, reverb filled electric show-with drums! No costume, no gags, just a mix of new and old songs. He played one guitar, no tuning, no rambling stories, just a funny line or two and on to the next song. It was awesome.by movingwater - Mountain Goats
I don't know about "really great band" They were a fine opener at the Minneapolis gig, but they kind of meandered to a close with each song, as if they could not remember how to end. With no real bass or drummer they had a hard time keeping time. The songs were nice and I liked the acoustic sound. Also, they came out promptly, played, and kept it short.by movingwater - On The Road
Was that a great show or what! Nice addition with the drums, kept good time, sounded really tight. Totally electric show, lots of reverb and good acoustics for the 400. John seemed really excited to play and loved audience response. He was really on-no endless tuning or wandering chat. I wish they had played a couple of the mellower tunes and what about Palmcorder Yajna!! That was a GREAT versionby movingwater - On The Road
