thanks y'all, so appreciative to read your kind words : )
as far as a folk punk definition, i quoted this in my bio:
“If someone asks me what kind of music I play, I say I play in a punk band,” said bassist Ryan (Defiance, Ohio). “I think we identify much more with the way a band conducts itself than we do to it stylistically.” Cellist and banjo player Sherri added, “I would say DIY punk…I

hi y'all,
i haven't been back to these forums in a long time but i still love the mountain goats and the mountain goats' fans.
some of you might remember me for fanatically transcribing the guitar tabs for a few albums, others maybe from trading live shows or meeting up at shows.
anyway, i wrote this album and it's called Never Wanted to Be Cool. it's got a lot of songs detailing my life i

Ha Xtopher might say that I've gotten caught up in my "real life" thing. But yanno y'all will always be an awesome and unique and wonderful part of my real life. Ha I chat up my tMG experiences all the time here in Europe a

Yeah I was lucky enough to see the film, wasn't paying close enough attention to see all the chords though. Highly possible that he played it in a diff. key, maybe if

Haven't really been around this place too much but I figured people would like to know I put up guitar chords/tabs for the whole album here. Probably a few minor mistakes here and there but I'm sure they'll get ironed out. Have all the chords for the bonus tracks too, just have to type them up when I get some free time in the next day or two. Hope y'all enjoy 'em
much love

Will see y'all in Chicago, Madison, Minneapolis, DC, and Philly. Maybe even NY if I wanna skip a few classes . Thankfully Megabuses will only cost me 17$ for the 3 Midwest shows.
And I know I haven't exactly been the most enthusiastic supporter of some of the newer stuff, but I still loves getting to see my band and I will be in attendance to see them and all of you. I even have places to stay

Have to chip in my thanks for the preview track. Interesting concept, I'm guessing (hoping) it'll be less religious than simple-truth-y, which sounds great by me.
I'm a bit weary of the production but I'm always down for new tMG stuff so I'll certainly take it.
And yes, it does have a few similar lines with BNL's Old Apartment. Nothing wrong w/ that.

I was there for Friday and Saturday, got to see Built to Spill put on a really great show. Everybody's more-or-less dissin' them around these parts because they Weren't-The-Jesus-Lizard, but I was flat-out floored by their set. Pick scrapes as melody lines, chromatic scale overloads, unison bends, harmony solos, whammy bar theatrics, etc. They delivered the goods from a musical perspective for me

Ha HowardFinkel Mike has love for all y'all even if he didn't get around too much to meet everyone properly besides the photo shoot. I'm pretty social, just had 7-8 close friends with me for the trip, hard to get out of their sights too much. Hopefully as I travel around for Mountain Goats shows in the next 6 months I'll have a better chance to see all of you.
I really liked the Paste piece.

Decades song = Positive Jam (The Hold Steady cover)
High Doses No. 2 = Abandoning My Father Talking Blues (some really rare Sunset Tree outtake that I believe was only played at an instore around 05 or 06.)
Carmen Cicero was my request, so glad to hear it played. 2 for 2 on ZOOP encore requests.
Personal song highlights=Positive Jam, Abandoning My Father.., the new 1, Carmen Cicero, Handba

I'd be really interested to see how this discussion would interact with the ever-growing rap-mixtape world, especially a prolific artist like Lil Wayne. Probably for good reason, Weezy gets criticized for saturating the music world.
I think I'm right in thinking that some critics also think by him releasing everything/freestyling over everything, it makes his music kind of democratic/Darwinis

Has Missy been 'round to hear this yet? Us horror-film crazies need to stick together.

Y'all have heard right?
This is the website where you can hear the songs
Spread the word! This band gets so little love.
I've tried to get them out to most of the people I know but I figure it doesn't hurt to have a thread for tMG fans, whom I generally think would be into this sorta thing.
Cheers

Not to completely derail with a Jackson Browne love-fest (though if there ever is a justifiable reason for derailing, I think a Jackson Browne lovefest qualifies), there's a bootleg of early Jackson Browne material on this site. Rumored to be JB's first live show according to the author It has some nice barebones piano/voice/guitar recordings of some of his better songs (From Silver Lake, My Open

Not tryin' to be antagonistic or anything, but Mosquito Repellent is tabbed out in alternate tuning on the wiki. Black Pear Tree is played like that live in standard. JD has varied which key he plays it in. 95% sure Bring My Curses Home is standard too. It's a lot of Cmaj7 rundown stuff. Haven't looked into Roger Patterson Van and Thank You Mario much, but the Thank You Mario is for a JD/KK live

I'm sure someone'll post the setlist sooner or later. Pretty varied 'cept for some usuals at the end. Was really nice to hear Going to Mexico.
Mixed feelings about these shows though. (mild criticism alert, please no crazy backlash y'all) The seating/venue was a little awkward for me in both VA and DC. Big and beautiful and all but seemed a little ill-fitting. I mean its always nice to see a s

We spent a little time at Wherehouse Music in Norfolk. Not too bad for a chain. Seems like Jersey doesn't even have those anymore.
Thom: I think we may have talked before? IRC maybe? I'm going to school in Chicago but otherwise living in Clementon. Sry I didn't get a chance to see ya at the shows. Have been away from the forums a bit. But yeah shoot me an email woj2322 at yahoo.com, maybe get
