It was a lame red leather jacket, like the one from Fight Club. I remember that because my roommate was like TYLER DURDEN JACKET in my ear really loudly when we'd been there for about an hour.

I am feeling better, you're really nice. I'm drinking my coffee&bourbon (I found my [ex?]boyfriend's liquor) and eating an egg mcmuffin that I had in my freezer.

Enjoy your last beer! Listen to Civil Twilight by the Weakerthans at civil twilight! And sleeping is for losers, obviously.

That is... too hilarious. I am pretty sure he was Tyler Durden for halloween once in that red leather jacket. It's too bad you're not on facebook or we'd confirm this hilarious situation with photo evidence. And laugh a lot about it. It would not surprise me at all if he were being obnoxious at the show- you should have thrown the beer.

Thank you, enjoy your liquorcoffee. I wish the Weakerthans had a Christmas song to add to my playlist. The closest thing would be "Without Mythologies" with its winter imagery. Also, I never sleep.

Sorry I didn't throw it.

I love Without Mythologies! My favorites are Aside and Left and Leaving. John K. Sampson is a genius, I saw the Weakerthans in Northampton this March. tMG + the Weakerthans = 1 happy girl.

Time for sleep now. Apothecary, thy drugs are quick, etc.

There are so many Christmas songs on this list that I do not have, it is epic and sad sad smiley (I too have a crazed obsession with good - and awful - holiday tunes)


Also, number 9, I'm really sorry (re: drunk posts thread) that is so awful. You should have thrown your beer on your boyfriend, too!

The two Christmas song by The Flaming Lips are decent too: "Christmas At The Zoo" and "A Change At Christmas (Say It Isn't So)".

Hah, let's start another thread for embarrassing/guilty pleasure holiday albums! Bette Midler, Hanson, Mariah Carey, and N'Sync come to mind.... (that's not to say I listen to all of those, mind you! but maybe some.)

Also I would just like to say that I can't stand The Knife. Their song "Christmas Reindeer" just reminded me of that fact. Yikes.

Dude, I totally have N'Sync and Hanson on my Christmas playlist. Say what you will, their Christmas albums were damn catchy and good for the season!

Oh totally.

was one of the very first cds I owned. And my first exposure to the wonderful world of holiday music outside of the TimeLife classics and singing Rudolf in elementary school (like a lightbulb! like George Washington)

...alright I need to pull myself away from here you guys. Procrastination of writing final papers is my favorite hobby right now.

You know, I know I said I was pulling myself away to get some work done, but the Hives/Cyndi Lauper song just came on again and my heart grew 3 sizes from how great it is. So allow me to give all you lovely forum people an early Xmas gift. Enjoy!


Edit: How could I forget to mention The Only Christmas Song That Matters? (Good call on the Coldplay cover, VK. Jimmy Eat World does a pretty decent one too, but of course no one can beat the original in all its George-Michael-y goodness.)

Oh don't get me wrong- I can't stand Coldplay either. But I will give credit for a good cover where credit's due. And it is a nice one. Travis wins the prize for favorite Last Christmas cover this year though, hands down.

And WHY do I not have that MxPx song?!?! Fixing that now...
I totally used to love MxPx in my punk rock days, even after I found out they're jesus-rock. With songs like Move to Bremerton and Sick Boy and Chick Magnet- not even jesus-lovin' could deter me from them.

For a minute I thought that you guys were talking about Ben Lee the Australian musician guy and was thinking to myself "He cannot possibly be going to college he is busy putting out another album that won't be as good as it should be." That was really confusing for a minute there.


Anyway, Christmas music. Here we have a mid-90s grungey version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and it is great.

Then, there's this which is really not very good at all and really inappropriate but good if you're feeling kinda angry at Christmas for whatever reason.

I will go forth and download that one now. Chick Magnet is a BRILLIANT song. MxPx were one of my great loves in high school, along with the Dead Kennedys, the Misfits, Jawbreaker, and the Queers.

My mom just called me to tell me that I need to watch Stephen Colbert's Christmas Special because it's got "a lot of funny Jewish things".

Please excuse my mother. She's originally from Tennessee.
