I let Curiosity get the best of me.

August 06, 2012 03:16AM | I let Curiosity get the best of me.
Anyone else ridiculously excited about NASA's rover "Curiosity" landing on Mars? I watched the live stream of it and I have to say it was intense. So much emotion in that control room.

Go NASA!!

ETA: Until the mobile app inevitably comes out I should really stop going here on my iPod. Too many errors.

I found watching that live feed to be supremely moving.

I am!!! I am!!!

I heard the news on the radio in my car yesterday, and I was very excited, too! I felt like a child back when I played with LEGO spaceships.

I talked about the money that goes into NASA with my girlfriend on the drive, and we found it ridiculous that some people say space programs cost too much when they spend ten times more to save a fucking bank.

This sounds like the exact conversation my girlfriend and I had after the landing and probably a dozen times before that. I'm a pretty big fan of Neil Degrasse Tyson and if he's right we could dramatically improve NASA's programs by increasing funding to a penny on the tax dollar. I think NASA really needs this though. The American public needs to remember how essential NASA and science programs are.

I'm in favor of more NASA spending because if we aren't going to save the planet we should at least find a new one to run to.

i think we should hurry up and make this place uninhabitable before we find a way to get off.
