I mean for this to be a general election discussion thread. By all means feel free to post whatever current issues are on your mind. There's a lot of stuff I want to talk about and there are a lot of smart people here who are fun to discuss with.
Who is the better candidate: Mitt Romney, Barack Obama, Gary Johnson, Roseanne Barr?
Someone else?
If it is someone else, are you upset that the winner of the presidential race will not be her/him?
Is it a good idea (theoretically, of course) to have a president? Why not a prime minister?
Is the way we nominate/elect American presidents fair? Is it smart? Is there a smarter way? Is there a way which would be more fair? To whom?
Would you be happier if there would be more candidates with a realistic chance of winning the election?
If you would, how could America change electoral law to better accommodate a variety of choices? Instant runoff elections? Proportional representation? Switching to a parliamentary system? Some combination of these?
Is electoral law even the problem? Could the limited availability of third party candidates who prove to be a serious challenge to Dems/Repubs be the fault of poor media coverage of alternative candidates? Maybe it's just political culture? Some combination of these and other factors?
Anyway, if you're at all interested in these questions (or anything else) as I am, post your thoughts.
