truth. nice post cronic. good to see you back.
I think a good question might be why you feel you dont have any choices in life?

i read somewhere that people are allowed to feel what they feel.
i'm not sure who it is allowing them though.

i don't think it's a lack of choice, but i think the choices we have can be so tough, that we do shit despite our will and better judgment. i am a firm believer in free will, but there is a relativism to it that i don't think i can avoid recognizing.

nice post there, mtn. girl.
and while i believe that everything happens, i've still yet to be convinced, by myself or otherwise, that there is a reason.
guess it doesn't matter.
everything happens.
shit happens.
does that logically make everything shit?
possibly.
but then, anything's possible.
anything, mind you. not everything.
so if everything is shit, that means that shit is not possible.
hm.
it's possible that shit happens.

and instead move into a much cheaper form of housing, in a neighborhood that's less expensive, and spend the rest of your days working at a job that pays less money like at a roller coaster or something (I say that cuz I actually left a great paying outside sales job that sucked royal ass back when I was 18 years old to go work at the rollercoaster at Mission Beach) BUT all of this may allow you to spend more free time writing the best and most perfect novel ever! Yes, you may have to give up loads of luxuries like shows and entertainment but that's where you have to ask yourself what's more important? If having the ability to afford such luxuries faaaar outweighs the suckiness of what ever it is you do for a living, then you have to accept the fact that YOU are making the decision to stay as is and practice being content with that decision.

Tough! Yes! Tough indeed!
That's why it takes really super duper shitty things to help you make those tough decisions. Otherwise you choose not to make the tough ones and stick to things that go against your better judgement and/or will.

The wayz I seez it, it's like this.
If you think that earning a living (for example) the way you do is more important than not earning a living the way you do, then you should practice being content with that decision.
But you have a choice there. You could choose not to be, say, a lawyerand instead move into a much cheaper form of housing, in a neighborhood that's less expensive, and spend the rest of your days working at a job that pays less money like at a roller coaster or something (I say that cuz I actually left a great paying outside sales job that sucked royal ass back when I was 18 years old to go work at the rollercoaster at Mission Beach) BUT all of this may allow you to spend more free time writing the best and most perfect novel ever! Another example is the concept of being 'successful'. A person may be so focused on obtaining a great title within their chosen career that they make themselves absolutely miserable trying to be perceived as being as successful as they want people to think they are. But it could happen, at one point, that person might look around and say, hey, ya know what? I really don't care if I end up being the executive vice president in charge of operations of whatever company and decide that maybe all they really want is to be able to live somewhere awesome and peaceful and they could do that simply by being a coconut farmer!
That's what the people at my old job were like. All about their "status" and how cool they were. Ridiculous. Hey tell ya what, you can have whatever bullshit title I had and I'll be over here with no title but really super happy. Kthnxbye.![]()
It's harder with kids, imo. You want to make sure you are giving your kids everything they need. But sometimes the lines get blurred between what they need and what they simply want. My daughter wants everything all the time. Thankfully she knows she's not really getting it most of the time. The only thing I don't really mess around with when it comes to my daughter is her education. Otherwise, she gets awesome birthday and christmas presents. Occasionally little things for good report cards. Sometimes candy just off the cuff. But that's it. And she's super awesome happy. She knows the difference between want and need. And thankfully so do her parents.
Now I'm certain I've talked too much and most likely have unwillingly offended someone. And I totally and completely expect to hear, "That all sounds very nice but it's not that easy". But we established that. Not easy. Tough.
It took a lot for me to realize that my time was more important than money. That spending all the time in the world making all the money in the world, in the end, couldn't buy me back the time I missed with my family while I was making it. But that's my priority. I don't think EVERYONE should have the same priority. I just think it might be nice if people were happy with what ever they set their priorities at.
I'll quit now.
Sorry if I offended.

you can't hold yourself to ancient promises. you promise things to yourself as a child, but that child is dead now. you don't have to stand by its corpse. you're alive with legs that can run.
i don't think kids get fucked up by divorce. i think they get fucked up because they think they have a reason to have problems because of divorce. you, me, us...we're the problem. not our parents, who were kids, children that are also long dead and gone that got married and got a divorce. they're not us. they're problems are not ours. we have our own.
happy parents are the best parents. not together unhappy parents. if you were a kid, knowing all you know now....which would you rather have?

well, the first step in finding meaning in life is deciding whether you believe you have free will or not. and since knowing that for sure is impossible, you'll probably just give up and look for happiness wherever you can, perhaps by watching It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.
