i'm a fool for getting rid of some of the guitars i've gotten rid of.

i could have just put better pickups in, and they would have been absolute keepers.

my epiphone sheraton? it just needed some "humbucker sized" p-90's. would have been hot as fuck, as the kids say.

i probably could've even found better sounding jazzmaster pickups.

and for the tele, i could just buy some vintage danelectro pickups and jam them in there.

if you don't like the sound....change the pickups!

(or the amp. what kind of amp are you playing through?)

Your not wrong about the pickups turning an average guitat into a keeper, we put James Hetfield EMG60 EMG81 Pickups into a basic EC-10 LTD - turned from basic to a weapon overnight.

Using a Blackstar HT100 with a HTV 412 Cab to annoy the neighbours.

What pedals do the good people of the forum use if any?

vox tone bender. it bends my tone and sounds nice and farty. and a vox wah. got them both because they looks so nice there together on the floor. i've had a few others in the past, but these are all that remain because they're all i consistently kept using.

Old amps kick ass, they sound awesome and would be a cool thing to collect as we turn into old bastards.

True and just!

BTW, my pedals are a cheap Behringer Blues Overdrive, an old Marshall Guv'nor, an Electro Harmonix Germanium 4 Big Muff Pi (pretty new, has both aseparate overdrive AND distortion), a Danelectro Tuna Melt tremolo and a Cry Baby Wah Wah.
But I don't use them altogether, for my garage punk band it's the Behringer as main distortion, die Guv'nor for boosting the sound during solos and the Dano tremolo.
For my noise band I use the Guv'nor and the Overdrive of the Big Muff (with it's distortion pedal for more pain) and the Wah Wah.

Yes.

i've always wanted a big muff.

Re: pedals

I totally love my Ibanez analog delay. It seems to be pretty standard usage by tons of people and it's never come close to letting me down.

Picked up a few Boss pedals lately CH1, MT2, NS2, RC30, DS1. - Dunlop Zakk Wylde Wah.

Never though the price of the Aus dollar would effect me, High Aus Dollar = Cheap Pedals = Hell yeah

Just ordered a Hendrix Fuzz Face that was recommended by a guitar freak.

Mike are you Vox pedals Tube?

I play alvarez. Great brand, great tone, great everything.

The only non-alvarez (also, the only electric) I own is my us made reissue fender jag.

transistor vs. tube is bogus.

the beatles AND the velvet underground used solid state amps.

tube amp snobbery didn't start up until oh i forget when.

Haha, when I tell this to my bassist, he'll kill me. But it will be sooo funny...

Whoa, fuck, check this out!

I should think about buying this, never seen it so cheap, and this one's really fun!

definitely buy cheap. the best thing about danos are the hollow body with the lipstick. solid body and lipstick...while still cool and fun, it's just doesn't have that danelectro sound i love. i had the vintage version of the "dead on 67." the bridge pickup was shit, but the neck pickup was the snazz! i should've kept that one.

Something like the Vox Big Ben Overdrive or Bulldog distortion? they have preamp tubes instead of standard cabling and setup.

my vox ad60 amp is the same sort of deal...solid state, but with tube in the pre-amp? i don't know too much about amps, all i know is it was a good deal and could switch from 1 to 5 to 15 to 30 to 60 watts and sound totally bitchin with it cranked at each setting. plus a bunch of amps modeled which are fun to play with, but the vox models are really the best. has a few effects but i don't use effects too much.

i did have a danelectro daddy o overdrive, one of the three original pedals from the 90's when they first came out. was a nice bruised yellow i stomped on it much. but i don't really use overdrive/distortion pedals anymore, i just crank the amp all the way up.

a 15 watt amp cranked to ten sounds better than a 30 watt amp stuck at 5, you know what i mean?

the 20 watt tube amp i have cranked sounds like led zeppelin. page didn't use any distortion pedals much either i don't think, maybe a fuzz face sometimes? can't remember. hendrix liked pedals for the different colors they'd lend to the guitar sound. i don't think he used distortion pedals, since his amps turned all the way up already provided that effect. but he used fuzz, because i don't think you can make your guitar sound fuzzy by turning the amp all the way up.

i'd use distortion pedals for noise metal, and overdrive pedals are good for people with amps that have too much wattage and they can't turn the daing things all the way up ever.

if you don't have your amp turned all the way up, all the time....i think you've got the wrong amp!

Carvin is the way to go -- every time. Steve Vai plays several.

Hey Wild Creature,

Took your advice and bought a DC400 Carvin last week. Good call my friend, best guitar I have ever seen or played.

Makes a hack sound good.
