Went to the Danzig Legacy show last night and it was amazing. I can't believe that guy is pushing 60 and rocking as hard as he is! It was a Danzig set, then Samhain and then Misfits before going back to Danzig for the encore and then ending the second encore with Skulls. Fantastic stuff (if you like that sort of thing, which I do)!

ETA: For Darkshines sake, Danzig had some choice words about Tom Petty last night. I don't think he's a fan.

I've got big plans.Talking BlanketYay, Butts! LOL!

Uhh... Plan-IT-X fest!

next weekend is our local experimental festival too! I'm playing that, and not only that, I hear rumor that Tim Barnes will be playing with the band on drums!!!

So I just saw that the Dirty Three are coming to DC in September. Definitely buying tickets to that as soon as they go on sale tomorrow.

haha, I went to bump this thread to show my excitement to see the Dirty Three, and now I see I was just as excited almost three months to the day ago.

Anyway, the Dirty Three are awesome, and I'm stoked to see them at Sixth & I Historic Synagogue in DC, which should be a really good venue for such spiritual, emotional music.

I mean, who wouldn't want to see this crazy guy:

I'm going to see Ani Difranco in this venue that's way smaller than what she usually plays on Oct 19th. Should be the shit.

WOULD be looking forward to seeing Aesop Rock Saturday if hadn't found out about it too late. Thinking about seeing Esperanza Spalding... I think its March or April of next year. That would be pretty cool though.

I'm seeing John Vanderslice / Crooked Fingers on Fri--the first thing I was planning on doing this week that wasn't cancelled due to the storm! It should be good.

Oh, and Evan, I saw on the internet that you had hooked JV up with a phone charger. Way to go, dude.
November 01, 2012 06:20PM | Re: Shows you are excited to see in the near future.
Oh man I wish I could see more dates on the JV tour. Last night's show was tops. Twas good to see The Destroying Angel again and JV always kills it.

I was glad to hook JV up with the charger. Being the incredibly nice man that he is he outdid my kindness. For a free cd of an hours worth of rarities (which is at the merchant table...don't worry), a shout out on stage with subsequent applause, a free drink ticket, and an alleyway encore of two songs I got to pick after the show (for me, my two pals, and three other people JV invited).

He's the coolest.

If anyone's curious I requested English Vines (he didn't remember it initially but took the time to relearn it and read the lyrics from my iPhone) and Greyhound.

We also talked about how badly AHWT needs a vinyl release.
November 01, 2012 08:27PM | Re: Shows you are excited to see in the near future.
Ah yeah Greyound. After a JV show last year, we were hanging out in a courtyard outside the venue with a few stragglers and I was like, "hey, Greyhound's a super great song, btw" and he picked up his guitar and said "It's super easy, too!" and went into an impromptu rendition. Love that guy.

I don't think I'm going to be able to make it to Manhattan for AJJ & FOTL tonight. I wonder if I could drive out to Brooklyn for JV.
November 02, 2012 09:38AM | Re: Shows you are excited to see in the near future.
Come on down! Say hi to me! I'll be at the merch table!

I think it will depend on whether or not I can find gas between here and there.
