Shows you are excited to see in the near future.

April 27, 2012 01:34PM | Re: Shows you are excited to see in the near future.
I'm seeing Radiohead in Newark but I might be interested in taking a Roger Waters ticket off your hands.
April 27, 2012 01:49PM | Re: Shows you are excited to see in the near future.
I've hated Roger Waters ever since he kicked Syd Barrett out of Pink Floyd. I don't really, but I thought it sounded kind of cool to say.

Carry on.

Carolina Chocolate Drops, Great Lake Swimmers, Black Dice (fuck yesssss), Sierra Leone's Refugee Allstars, Charlie Parr, Destroyer, Amadou & Mariam.

It's gonna be a great couple o' months.

I'm seeing Weird Al for the first time ever in a week or so, and I'm really (some might say strangely, but screw 'em) excited for it! I mean you know it's going to be fun and an honest-to-god SHOW. Can't wait. It's one to cross off the bucket list.

kool and the gang opened, and they were GREAT. it was like a mass wedding reception in there. "jungle boogie"-ing up the stairs to buy an $11 beer. walking back down to "get down on it." "celebration" was terrific, wrung everybody out, singing along and dancing in the aisles.

van halen.

where do i begin. and how would i end.

they couldn't have been better?

don't get me wrong, the band was cranking on all 12 cylinders. unfortunately, diamond dave was on about 6, and i'm probably being generous. that's life i guess, he's lost a little shine, so have i. they played only four new songs, same four they've been playing i think. stinks because i only went to see them because of their great new album. but then i remembered that eddie was a legendary guitarist (oh yeah!), and he really did pull out all the stops. he looked great, was playing great, just watching him play eruption/cathedral was worth it for me. but the sound in the tacoma dome was boomy and echoey, unfortunately. it was really hot in there, and i'm usually fine with loud concerts, but my head was hurting halfway through vh's set. by the end of the show i was actually hoping for only 1 encore song, which is what we got. and i was 10-15 years younger than the crowd. i never before felt like such a substandard van halen fan.

i haven't been to a big show in awhile...do all bands do crappy photo slideshows now behind them now? i thought a van halen show would be more exciting than photos of old tour posters floating by in the background, along with a stray "buy the new album at best buy" ad. yes. that happened. somewhere in the middle of "pretty woman" i think, and me thinking of at least 10 other van halen songs i'd rather be hearing instead.

am i complaining? yes, and i probably shouldn't be, but why not be honest. i expected too much. i probably should have watched some youtubes of their show before buying tickets. odds are i probably would have stayed home and listened to their absolutely terrific new album, and drank a $3 beer.

a few of them.

Going to see The Magnetic Fields tonight! Was initially planning on bringing my camera to try doing some filming, but on the tickets it says no photographing or recording allowed, so I'm having second thoughts...

Why's everyone in this thread a f***ing Mountain Goats fan?!

for fans going to see the show, yes, it's totally for the best.

no more 2012 vh tour will save fans time, money, and disappointment.

for the prospect of more awesome van halen albums like this last one?

urgh a music war.
