I think that "sad" may be a wrong expression, but for a punk band they are pretty melancholic. But this may be caused by the lyrics, I think, but also by Junge's voice ("Junge" just means "boy", I guess not many people know his real name).

EA80 are so damn cool, they never had a label, everything is diy, and they do their stuff since 20+ years. I hear that live they appear to be arrogant, but who cares - music as solid and sometimes pitch black as theirs doesn't need any justification. And they got the coolest official homepage ever, unchanged since Idontknowwhen.

If you like, Mike, I can translate some of the lyrics...
