I used TuneCore. You can put up a single for $10 a year or an album for $50.

Wait... you have to pay yearly to keep your music available through these services? That's going to get expensive.

I'm only leaving it up for a year.

I absolutely love this one. Great job.

Here's a song.

Working on this new album called Forgiveness. I'm not recording it in a studio though like last time cause 1. Money, and 2. I'm not actually happy with how my music sounds when the quality of the recording is good. Hell, I don't like much of my recorded music, period.

Here's a brand new 4 track EP called This Is The Year I just finished mixing yesterday: http://staugustinesday.bandcamp.com/album/this-is-the-year

I used my friend's nice recording equipment so it's not just GarageBand this time, haha.

He (Alex Bretoi) was gracious enough to add bass, keys, drums, and backing vocals.

This is pretty cool. Plus, by your shows, I'm assuming you're in San Antonio, Texas, which is where I lived most of my life. I've been in Florida for almost six years now, but from the age of 8-22 I lived in SA. So maybe sometime when I go visit my parents I will catch one of your shows.

Where have you played the most? Where do you buy your gear and instruments and such?

Thanks, man. I mostly play at G.I.G. On The Strip, but I've also played at Taco Garage, Grace Coffee Cafe, a used to be weird ass venue that is now a gay bar, and I've played shows at my school, Trinity University (I actually opened for Rooney for our Welcome Back Concert).

In the future, I plan on playing places like Order Up, The Foundry coffee house, and maybe like the Enchilada Warehouse or something.

I usually by music stuff from Krazy Kat, Red Bone, or Guitar Tex. Occasionally Guitar Center.

Amazingly, I've only heard of a few of those. I imagine some are new, and the fact that I don't know others is probably due to my lameness.

Krazy Kat is awesome. You should check out Spacetone if you haven't already. I think it's over by St. Mary's kind of.

somehow I'm still keeping up with the song a day thing! kinda surprised with myself! These two seem to just about stand out from the most recent bunch:

Yeah, so I have a new song up from the new album I'm working on. This is a semi-final cut. Listen and download for free and such. Umm... I forgot how soundcloud worked though, so as of right now it's a wav file. Sorry for the size. I'll try to get something smaller up soon.

Milk and Honey

Critique is always helpful, but try to keep it constructive, by which I just mean, tell me if I'm obviously doing something wrong or if there is something sonically or lyrically that is just bad. The lyrics are probably a little more set in stone at this point though. Just sayin'...

Random question. How should one go about getting these so-called "gigs"?

Why's everyone in this thread a f***ing Mountain Goats fan?!

Go to as many open mic nights as you can, ingratiate yourself with fellow musicians, punters, and venue bods. Doors should begin to open organically, to coin a mildly repulsive phrase.

In other news! M'second album is finally up on bandcamp. Physical copies are in the works, but may take a while (I don't want them to be appallingly low quality), so it's download only for now; but anyone who pays a reasonable amount will get a CD for free later on when they're actually made.

Et voila: Inferno Antarctica

Hangs together far better than Enemy, I think; and if it seems a little brief, rest assured the CDs'll come with plenty of extra goodies =]

My best friend/vocalist for my band came over my house today and we decided to record some of the stuff we've been working on, but since our drummer wasn't present we figured we'd just do it all acoustically.

Crikey. Despite harbouring a hearty dislike in my heart for J.D. Salinger, I like that so much I want to cover it immediately. I guess it might be a bit early for that though, eh? =]

Man, I am your fan for sure. I paused Robert Pete Williams to listen to your song. Very good work here... F&Z is actually one of the Salinger books I haven't read, but the song stands well on its own.

*edit* I plan to listen to the other songs that were posted recently, but, I will have to get to them later on.

i echo what simonfox says above, that's a damn good tune.

It's the longest intro to a song i've heard in a while as well. Make of that what you wish!

This is really awesome. Of your stuff I've listened to this is my favorite so far. I love the energy. I love they catchy songs. Very nice... keep up the good work. When I can afford to actually pay you something for it I will download it. Until then I will listen to it on bandcamp.

I love the lyrics and feel of the original song. Very nice cover as well. Once again, when I can pay, I will.

How old are you? You look young, but your song is a pretty amazing "Alpha Couple" style song. It looks like the younger guys on this board are all prodigies.

Don't take it as insulting when I say I thought that's about how old you were but that I also thought you might be younger.
