Show us your music!

July 05, 2010 03:33PM | Show us your music!
I know we have a lot of talented musicians here, so I thought I'd make a new thread where people could share the music they make.

Good stuff, the both of you - I especially like Jammed Signals and Clogged Conduits, and Jamison; I wrote a song a while back called The Best of All Possible Worlds too, and I love yours. It's easily one of my most loathed elements of theodicy.

Anyhow, here's just a little playlist of the songs I've got up on youtube. Nothing so fancy as an album download yet, I'm afraid =]
July 22, 2010 03:22PM | Re: Show us your music!
Thanks, Jonty. My idea for the song was sort of something based on the ideas in Voltaire's Candide, how once a person has seen suffering in the world he or she can't justify it through blind optimism. My conclusion in the song is that this a good world, but one can't fix the problems in it with a narrow, "best of all possible worlds" approach. Anyway, I'm glad you liked the song.

I really like your songs. Headed Southwest has awesome lyrics, and Are You Mary? has great guitar.

Nice stuff guys!

Jonty, I love "Dead." The chorus is so catchy! It's going to be stuck in my head, I know it. I'm feeling a dark vibe in all of your songs, which is great. Get that stuff on a download!

Jamison, I've only heard the first song so far (and it was great), but I've downloaded the album and intend on listening to it very very soon!

In narcissistic news, I've got a music video up:

Thanks, SlowWestVulture! I hope you like the album!

I haven't downloaded the Pure Juniper album yet, but the song you posted is awesome. Neat video as well.

@ Jamison: Glad you liked the song/video (I'm in this band), great music! I wish I had begun playing guitar that young, as well as I wish I'd practiced more. I can't wait to download it though, it'll have to wait till I have internet on my own computer.

@ Jonty: Very Goatsy stuff, I love it! Post links for download when you get around to making them available. Of course it'd be a while till I could grab it anyway. Jammed Signals is one of our best, I'm glad you like!

People, please tell me I'm not the only one thinkin' what I'm thinkin' right now. JUST TOO EASY.

I can assure you you're not.

ETA: Jonty, Dead is wicked, I love that lead guitar part and the line about fingers. I don't have much time to listen to the rest, but when I saw the photo for The Monkey Song I had to check it out, and I was not disappointed. Amazing facials (eh, rainechild, eh??) and when your voice gets all raw at the end I get all happy.

Thanks! I just downloaded the Pure Juniper album, and it's awesome. I'm going to listen to parts of it over the next couple of days, but the parts I've heard (the first two songs and the song from the video) are very good. The guitar is really hypnotic.

Hi everyone.
My friend Eric Radoux and I finally got our things together and released a split EP that we've been working on for nearly six months. I'm pretty proud of it.

What's more, I've made my first foray into "music video making." More accurately, I drove around where I live while my brother held a camera out the sunroof. Still, I kind of liked the result.

Finally. EvilEivind, I spent nearly forty five minutes cruising your Youtube channel after clicking the Phantasmogoria link. You have some very awesome stuff. I love the "Going to Maine" cover.
Link for those who have not seen it.

That is something you shouldn't have to learn from experience.

Thank you, tkpeters! I'm flattered. Glad my YouTube channel has brought some joy to someone.

That EP of yours is pretty good! Wish I could make music that sounded as polished, but for now it's mainly me and my Casio. Bonus points for the Kant joke.

Ooooo! Is this stuff you've wrote? I was thinking of asking you if you've tried writing anything. I really like "Mobius Strip." Beautiful stuff.

And nice work EvilEivind and tkpeters! I love the ending of "Phantasmagoria #89." I also just remembered how much I digged The Elegant Bachelors "Going To Georgia" off of No Safety!

I recently uploaded the second song of my solo project "The Ethics Officer." It's a cover of the theme song to Gran Torino.

I just need to finish one more tMG cover and then I'll get on to making a full legnth!

small time acoustic folk band. currently playing warehouse gigs and open mics in nyc and portland, or.

new album- check it out. some whiny, some punkish, some popish, all recorded originally on cassette tapes over the past lord-knows-how-many months. completely free (pay what you will) but please do throw a dollar in if you can (and if you think its worth anything). give it a shot, you might find something you like smiling smiley

also, i have a deal with a friend that every 10 downloads the album receives we donate ten dollars to this charity: [www.charitywater.org] which brings clean water to those in developing nations who cannot attain clean water on their own. even if you just download and delete it immediately it will go to a good cause.

Thanks all! I'm always especially pleased when I'm complimented on my facials. I moved house to the country a few weeks back, and the internet out here's pretty primitive, but I plan to upload an album of sorts (after recording a couple more tracks) in the next few weeks, before uni. Snowybear - we all goin' deaf! is really getting to me. I love your guitar work and honest lyrics. Soon as my provider allows, I'll be giving the whole album a download; soon as my wallet allows, I'll chuck you a few quid as well.

Phantasmagoria, and the sublimely rhythmic la la la, the end are also digging little ditches in my brain; and you Elegant Bachelors and Eric, you - your sound's really impressive. Same applies to you as Boy and Gabriel; just sorry my pockets are so shallow at the mo. Love the vocals on number one cause, and those horns in placebo. And as an aside, I feel vindicated in referencing Hume in one of my songs now!

Special thanks also to SlowWest for preserving Layla's songs - which are like rain; like, seriously touching. It's a good job I don't write reviews - in quote form. This thread's a veritable gold mine.
