All hail kittenry's setlist prowess.

Seriously... this show blew my mind into the next galaxy. Beautiful.

This show was amazing. I finally got up the nerve to talk to J.D. and tell him how important his music was to me in surviving my diagnosis of lupus.

Also one of the Haw River Ballroom ticket-collectors gave me a free beer, so that was nice. grinning smiley

If I get this right, this should be a cool pic I found from the show. I recognize a few front row types I met at the show (along with me and my son). Big D.C. contingent on the stage left side of the front two rows. JD: Come back to D.C. soon and sell out the 930 club again!

This show was amazing. Definitely the best venue I've been to for a tMG show, and the crowd was awesome (unlike in Greensboro and Charlotte). Also, I always loved The Day the Aliens Came, but it's officially my new favorite song.

This show really was incredibly good. Another great Game Shows Touched Our Lives, My first hearing of Tetrapod, a near perfect Damn these Vampires, Old college try....and five solo songs! Plus an intense Samuel 15:23. All as part of the end of tour show in a crazy cool venue outside of Durham. Perfect.

Can we talk about how amazing Samuel 15:23 is live? The Asheville performance of it nearly killed me.

Would love to hear this; as it sets the tone for that entire album, and HAS to be amazing live.

I hope of video of it surfaces from this tour. It was magical.

Maybe I'm playing it up, but... no, I think it was that good.

I agree about Samuel 15:23. When he started it I thought it was an interesting but not too exciting choice... but his performance was powerful and gave me chills and reminded me how good the song is...

I loved when they opened with 1 Samuel on the previous tour. It almost sounded like a Chuck Berry cover or something. Very rock'n'roll.

I also thoroughly enjoyed the intensity with which JD played the piano at this show!

This was my first time at Haw River and John is totally right. It is really rivaling Cat's Cradle for my favorite venue right now and if I go a second time when I'm not sick, it might surpass it.

(but seriously, half of the Mountain Goats concerts I go to, I get a cold the day before it. Did I disturb a pharaoh's tomb or something?)
