That was an amazing gig... Can't wait for the new album.

I wrote a bit about the concert on my blog, including a few (lo-fi but not terrible) recordings:

that's a nice little piece of writing. you may wish to consider submitting it to Sad Young Cardinals. There is an essay being written for the NY version of this (though it will be some time before it is published), and it would be cool to have essays on both shows up.

Don't know what to add to what's already been said - a stunning show with amazing performances by all involved. I have to add that before he actually sang with Anonymous 4 Owen Pallett looked ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED, but he had no reason to be. And the version of 1 John 4:16 with Owen's violin playing alongside John on the piano is the most amazing version of that song I'll ever hear.

See?

You know what though? I just want to see a proper full-on rocking-out tMG show back in Manchester as soon as possible. It's not that the show wasn't great and it'll stay with me forever, and the venue was perfect for this presentation of the new songs, but I just want to sing along at the top of my voice, y'know?

It was great to catch up with Status Frustratio and to meet Johnp & his wife. Nice to talk rugby face to face for once!

There was one of those funny little square-of-dots you're supposed to scan with one of those newfangled smart phone things to get a pdf file of the program for the show. Not being technologically advanced like the kids of today I had to scan in my actual paper copy for you people to see if you're interested...

A great show and very different from what I expected (didn't really read much info beforehand and didn't know anything about Anonymous 4 apart from them being an acapella group). I even brought my dad with me who is more into rock music than anything else, but he enjoyed it greatly as well.

Was there any merch being sold? I couldn't find any, but the lobby of the venue was huge and I could've missed it.

And for the really good news: I recorded the complete show (Anon4 solo, tMG solo, Anon4+tMG, encore) and from what I can tell listening to it right now, it sounds amazing. Will be posting it in a couple of days or so.

Great news about the recording. Can't wait to hear it!

I didn't see any merch either. It looks like I'll have to spring for the shipping to get one of those new tees.

I didn't see anything, either. Brill RE: the recording.

It was fantasic - I still feel all sort of settled from it. So many new songs! I am ready to get to know them. Until I Am Whole reminded me of Any Avaliable Surface. What was the one with maps? (I'll Google it in a second, don't worry about telling me) I think that was my favourite on early listening.
I was glad to hear a few from tLotWtC set as the setlists over here last year were almost like that record didn't happen. Plus Enoch and Ezekiel are two of my favourites from that lot. (Sincere, if it doesn't sound it) thanks to whoever a few seats behind laughed out loud at the chorus of Enoch - I was about to cry I think, but that nipped it in the bud.
(Also the blood red light for Cut Off Their Thumbs #1 ( : D ) &c. was brilliant.) Oh and it kept amusing me how JD and Owen Pallet - I've never seen FF, but JD usually moves about - were concentrating & still w/ their hands hung like choirboys while the Anon-ers were not at all still in the hand department.

I held off 'til just after the show to tell my cousin the NØ Children slipmat was what I want for last Christmas, in case.
Agreed on the wanting also a chance to yell along. and it was great to say hullo to you and susan and her notebook and βmax (and sit w/ Sparkle & her friend and iatethelotus' girlfriend)! I also think I scared someone who happened to be sitting just behind me by recognising them from a couple of Twitter things...

Thanks! I might do that. Hadn't come across Sad Young Cardinals before, looking forward to reading back through the archives now, so thanks for the pointer.

Fantastic to hear hauntedorgan had the foresight to record the whole set! Can't wait to grab that when it appears.

Sorry it took a while, but I was busy these last few days. Here's the show in 192 kbps MP3. If you're into FLACs and all that, I will be posting a lossless version to Dimeadozen later tonight.

Be warned, audio levels are a bit crazy throughout. The actual music was recorded at a pretty good level, whilst the clapping was almost always too loud. Also, some of the stage banter was spoken off mics, so it is very quiet. I tried to do some normalizing, but I wasn't happy with the results so in the end I just left it as it was recorded. If somebody wants to go ahead and try to enhance the recording, be my guest.

Thanks so much for the show! You're a mensch.

Should have done this previously - stopped by and said thanks to hauntedorgan for the recording. My first recording of a show I was at. Much appreciated.

I'd love to hear it.
Thanks!

I can share this no problem. Bit late to do it tonight but will look for some time to do it tomorrow. How would it work if I wanted to put it up on Archive.org? Should I be asking for hauntedorgan's permission? It only seems fair that I do. Otherwise I'll just pick another means of sharing it...

Who's the guy instigating the standing ovation? That would be me @RHS with my wife to my left. Don't know who the other couple were, but hats off and thanks for joining! And thanks to Jesse Morris for the video.

Also, I'm going to claim partial credit for the appearance of Bride in these and subsequent setlists. When tMG played here in May '11, I pestered JD to include it as I'd just got engaged. He couldn't immediately place it so I had to sing it to him. Memory jogged, he said he remembered liking the song but no longer had a copy of it. One mp3 later, he jokingly said "we'll probably play that at our next show" - only took 10 months to appear, by which time my by-now-wife got to hear it too.
