That was fucking amazing. I never thought I would ever hear Golden Boy live. Holy shit.
Additionally: I felt really awkward being the only person around me that was moving around and seemingly enjoying myself? Oh well..

I was dancing and hopping like a maniac, and there was one girl in front of me enjoying herself. (no idea your gender or anything I don't get on the board much) I didn't bump people or anything. I was against the rail in the 21+ area I was like fuck it, they didn't pay to see me so they probably aren't watching me![]()

does ANYONE know what the intro song he played was? the metal intro he played before the first song?
i'm dying to know, since i love metal, and so does John. And if John likes it, it must be fucking awesome.
Also, that was an anthrax patch on the back of his jacket. fuck yes.
Did any of you see me? A couple of your descriptions sound vaguely familiar... I, too, was in the very front (very VERY front). I'm really tall, thick black glasses, blue hoodie, carrying the rolled-up poster I bought. Oh and me and another tall kid were dancing and freaking out the entire time. Sound familiar to anyone?Quote

I definitely saw you, BroomPerson, but I had no idea which people were forum people at the time, especially since I arrived late (during Megafaun).
Oh jeez! I remember you hahaha. If only I'd known!Quote

I was behind you, a girl with short black hair and black glasses wearing a yellow flannel.
HELL YES!Quote

I was the guy who yelled out for Golden Boy, so you all can thank me for that... JD chastised me for it when I met him afterwards ... and other stuff.
Dude, I met you! My friend and I were waiting for JD right near you guys at the bottom of the steps.
That was so awesome.

fucking awesome show. i was (i think) the only person headbanging to about half of the songs.

I'll chip in with my singing-along-at-gigs story (I'm with the ayes on this btw).
When I saw Pixies on their reunion tor at Manchester Apollo in '05 they started playing "Hey" and about 2 lines in Kim Deal decided she didn't want to play it because she wanted a cigarette rather than to sing backing vocals, but the WHOLE PLACE just continued to sing the song from start to (pretty much-) finish. Now I realise a Pixies gig and a tMG gig are completely different animals, but I think there's something to be said for the communal feeling of singing along with the songs you love. Granted, there's only 4 and a bit album worth of Pixies songs so pretty much everyone there knew every word of every song they were ever going to play, and you're rarely going to hear the crowd over the band, but even in my limited experience of tMG shows (one JD & PPH, one JD solo, one full band) I've found that the crowds have been loud when it warrants it, and quiet and reverent as the occasion demands.
I've just read that back to myself, and I'm so glad there's no prize here for well thought out opinions...
