UK Tour 2011

May 25, 2011 11:49AM | Re: UK Tour 2011
I also have a spare ticket for tonight, my friend pulled out.

I will be leaving work shortly, so to save checking every 5 mins either call me or send a text to 07837394432 and I can meet you outside the venue. Once it's claimed i'll log back on and edit my post smiling smiley

edit: pers0na grabbed it smiling smiley

Last night in Brighton was fantastic; a few issues with the PA, but nothing that I couldn't overlook.

Highlights (for me): Psalms 40:2 (more intense than ever), Southwood Plantation Road (replete with some fantastic and earnest Wurster-ing) and (of course) Going to Georgia.

Low point: walking towards an Italian restaurant in town only to spot Wurster entering from the other side and saying to girlfriend, "We CAN'T eat there. That's where Mountain Goats are." I will never live that down.

On the train to London now; bring on Koko.

Bit embarassing for a first post - apologies.

Bought 4 tickets for the Leeds show on Saturday, but various folks have dropped out, and I have three going spare (I'm still going). Just wondering if anyone needs one? Cost about £16 plus with the fees, but make me an offer...!

Yep, couldn't believe we got 2 "Orange Ball..." songs. "Alpha Incipiens" & "Shower" too. Kind of thought tonight would a disappointment after last night's much smaller show, especially as I got there late & was stuck at the back again like last time at Koko, but that setlist pulled it out of the bag.

Nice. I'm trying to decide what to take to try and get signed in Manchester on Friday. Don't know if I fancy carrying the DVD with me all night...

Looking forward to the next London show, whenever it may be.

What a wicked cool night!
It was amazing to meet Wild Creature, Betamax and Status F...all truly lovely people!

The band were fantastic and the set list incredible...I can't even choose a highlight.

ETA - Javan, thank you! The boy found us inside and enjoyed his first tMG gig, thanks to you smiling smiley

Blimey, that was fantastic!
I have renewed faith in Koko as a venue after they stole my salted crisps in '07 in an alleged anti-terrorism move.
And so lovely to see you WC, betamax, and susanandhernotebookandherfamily.
Congrats on your mission accomplished, too, WC!

I am now heading to Manchester to see Andrew Jackson Jihad, who apparently played a great show in London yesterday...why they weren't support for tMG... This seems almost like my best holiday since Year 6 school journey to Treginnis Farm for City Children...

Just wanted to echo the sentiments above - Koko show was absolutely fantastic.

Highlights (although really the entire set was a highlight): Pigs, Best Ever Death Metal Band, the extra solo set before the encore... From beginning to end it was perfect.

Now a day off before leg two so am doing equally rock n roll things like taking the car for a service and seeing the mortgage advisor, woop.
May 26, 2011 11:37AM | Re: UK Tour 2011
the music was astoundingly good, but i have to say the audience really did it for me. i cannot say how nice it was to chat with beta, statusf and susanandhernotebook before the show, and then sharing the music with them during the show, and than hanging with susanandhernotebook and her lovely family after the show waiting for JD. and the crowd itself was so nice and into it, the band was into it, pph's bass playing was just absolutely on fire, and they were just having a blast.

that all being said, broom people was really the highlight for me personally. Makes me fall in love w/ JD all over again. Cannot wait for manchester, and i'm hoping i get a chance to hang with Status F again, and to hopefully meet some more forum people -- maffj, i'm looking at you!

also shower was awesome.

Yep, what fun! great set list! shower AGAIN- this made me very happy indeed! gutted i didn't get to bump into any of you good people! but the orange balls, the pigs, woke up new, alpha incipiens, were all great and i had so much fun!

although i do wish they'd put best ever death metal band, no children, going to georgia and this year to bed for a little bit. but then i guess they're the songs that a good portion of the audience turn up to hear...great songs all of them mind.

Likewise. Unless I stand there all night, like at Leeds last year, thinking something like "I'm SURE that's Status F standing right in front of me" and not saying anything.

I'll be there rocking my winning Proclaimers specs / Tintin hair combo. Oh, and if I can find them, one of my forum badges.

trying to sort out train times for tomorrow.

Bit of a noob question, but if doors are at 7.30 then what time can I realisitcally expect them to come on and how long will they be on for? Whenever I've been to gigs in the past I've always had another way to get home or somewhere to crash...

If I ignore the logistics of trekking across The Pennines on a Friday night for a minute... I am really looking forward to the show. I love Manchester Academy as a venue (never been to 3 though, I'm presuming it is next to the other 2?) and after a pretty intense week of uni exams it'll be a great way to end it. I'll be the lanky kid on his own due to having friends with dreadful music taste!

Look forward to seeing the band and everyone else tonight!

besteverdeathmetalband - My guess would be, based on Tuesday and Wednesday's shows: Doors 7:30, The Submarines 8:00 - 8:30, tMG 9:00 - 10:30.

Brilliant.

In other crowd generalisation news, I was trying to take a sly picture of the early queue outside Koko on Wednesday to demonstrate that around 90% of those waiting were reading books. You know, those books they used to have, back before those smartie phones?

I'll be there tonight in my Merge records t-shirt, scraggly mousy brown hair, short stature and minor weight issues - please feel free to say hullo.

I am filled with vile jealousy towards all travelling north for gigs...
Consoling myself with the promise of three nights in Amsterdam which will incorporate a PJ Harvey gig...

Have fun, lovelies!

I cannot wait for this work day to finish so I can get the train over to Manchester!

Does anyone had a full Koko setlist out of interest?

this. all of this. and then some more of this.

I was so, so happy to meet all of you and share in all of that with you nice people. It lifted the gig a whole lot. Great that you got your book signed as well, WC!

They seemed like they were totally into it, and the enthusiasm was infectious. And, man oh man, two Orange Balls. So happy. I cannot wait now for Newcastle, i only hope it doesn't pale in comparison with Koko.
