UK Tour 2011

February 09, 2011 01:01PM | UK Tour 2011
Would have posted this under Leeds, but as it's separate...

Tour as it stands (unnanounced)

May
24th - Brighton Coalition (http://www.wegottickets.com/event/109045)
28th - Leeds Brudenell Social Club

More soon, you'd think.

27th - Manchester Academy

According to their gig guide update email. MUCH more do-able than Leeds.

Koko, Manchester and Leeds for me then, I think. Might be able to swing Brighton, although would either be a long drive or hefty train journey. Much to think about.

I am doing Manchester and Leeds at least. Probably Glasgow as well.

Koko would be something but it's in the middle of the week....

Looking like Leeds, Manchester, London and Brighton for me - week off work? Why of course.

After numerous plans to go to Brighton to see bands that have ended up falling through...tickets purchased for that & the London show.

anyone heard any whispers of the support act for the UK leg?

I mean, Megafaun and then Bright Eyes for the US dates is something special, are we getting a dedicated support act or just a local few bands?

I think it's fairly safe to say that tMG are supporting Bright Eyes, not the other way around.

On the last 'twour' (clever pun because there were only two dates, yeah?) support act was the hideous Chad Valley, who still owes me 40 minutes of my life for filling my ears with his castrated New Order 'chillwave' wankery and filling my eyes with his crappily shot and poorly projected holiday videos.

I'm not holding out high hopes for this tour, although that's probably for the best as then I'll be highly delighted when it turns out to be somebody even halfway OK.

Yeah, i was there for Leeds, and i wasn't overly stoked about CV.

I hope we can get someone good, because the support is so important to a good gig.

I enjoyed chad valley! the videos, the wash of music. good stuff imo. maybe biased because he is a hometown act. but i liked him.

i'm hoping for Lady Sovereign.

On this tour, she'd be Never Quite S.O.V.

Ahem.

You know what just crossed my mind? They'll be on the country while there's a series of "Later" being broadcast. Wouldn't it be nice to see them continue their spate of TV appearances with a slot on Jools' little show?

I was wondering that. This is week 4/9 for this series and producer Alison Howe is ex-John Peel. Would be great to see! They're off duty on Monday 23rd - is the Tuesday broadcast genuinely live? If it is they'll be playing Brighton that night.
April 26, 2011 05:48PM | Re: UK Tour 2011
i'm going to the london and manchester shows, and thinking about brighton. it seems to be about 90 minutes outside of London proper. Anyone know if that's about right, and whether there is public transport there? I will be staying by the the Tower of London, and I'm wondering if it would be easy to sneak out of the endless client sessions around 6:30 and get to the show on time?

Oh well. Seems the Tuesday show is at least recorded on the Tuesday since in tonight's show they've had a mini-tribute to Poly Styrene who passed away today.
