From Sweden he definitely did The Recognition Scene, Downtown Seoul, whole wide world, snow crush killing song, Pranav ferox. There's at least one other Sweden song and one or 2 other "new" songs.

the rocking version of recognition scene was, for me, the best version of that song i've heard.

it was a wonderful evening in a beautiful theater with music that was familiar yet performed in a way i'd never heard before.

the rockier stuff was, I think, heavier than anything I've heard from the MGs before,

Jamie Riotto (bass) and Jason Slota (Drums) are both San Francisco based musicians who play out quite often w/ Vanderslice and, I believe, sometimes tour with him. The upright bass action that Jamie Riotto contributed really struck a chord with me. Fantastic and melodic and pounding.

do they play in their own bands, or just with JV? they really were wonderful, at any rate. not only "Fantastic and melodic and pounding," but they built a killer atmosphere in the moodier sections, Jamie with his bow and Jason with his brushes.

The most surprising thing in the entire thread(!) I didn't know JD did hugs very often? or is that just handshakes?
I think it may be tacky to say I hope someone got a recording... but I certainly do hope y'all who saw it will be able to put together a setlist. I've got my copy of Sir Arne's Treasure sitting here, and I'd like to approximate the setlist for when I watch it.
