as a vinyl geek, i tend to think that everything sounds about 1 billion x better, but i splurged on a nice turntable and obviously the vinyl ain't cheap either, so... yes, let's just stick with approximately 1 billion times better.

I expected as much, but it's good to know. Maybe someday...

I just bought a used copy of Protein Source of the Future...Now! for only 16 dollars on Amazon. I think this is the first somewhat "rare" Mountain Goats album I've been able to obtain. But I'm happy. Very happy. smiling smiley

I have been lucky on amazon/ebay once or twice... got the fantasy band comp for $3.00 and orange raja for $5.00 last month. I don't think they're very elusive, but they were cheap and I didn't have them and that's what really matters.

I really should hunt down BRS on vinyl... It was the first "old" recording that I liked a lot- possibly due to the awesome cover art; possibly due to New star song / song for cleomenes (which now bugs me due to historical inaccuracy, but I still love it and rarely "correct" the lyrics when playing it).

I just got Protein Source of the Future... Now! and it's brilliant. Special Shoes, Easter Bunnies, Portuguese Water Dogs, Monkeys in Basements, Stolen Coco Yams, it's all there. I especially like that there are so many references to Things Fall Apart, which I recently read. But Yam, the King of Crops on its own is one of the best things ever recorded by anybody. If I could hunt that cassette down, I'd be a happy person. But I'm getting greedy.
