HEY JOHN DON'T READ THIS THREAD AGAIN smiling smiley

October 17, 2009 04:26PM | Re: HEY JOHN DON'T READ THIS THREAD AGAIN smiling smiley
way into this, really happy to get in on this one this time. at this rate we might be giving john a double-album's worth of his own songs, ahahah
October 17, 2009 05:03PM | Re: HEY JOHN DON'T READ THIS THREAD AGAIN smiling smiley
I am so excited! I don't know how cool my cover's going to be but I'm going to work really hard on it. I wonder if John's gonna want to listen to this. I know he's not a big fan of listening to his own songs. But he did like it when Tyler did a remix. I think this is going to be another great community project. Are we going to have cover art? Also, could we make multiple copies? I want one! Maybe we could sell them to fund raise for Farm Sanctuary.

Selling covers would be a huge legal issue...

I was kind of assuming that the entire thing would be uploaded for free somewhere.
October 17, 2009 05:16PM | Re: HEY JOHN DON'T READ THIS THREAD AGAIN smiling smiley
yeah, that's what happened with the last covers project and I'm sure this one will be uploaded for free as well.

I've got big plans.Talking BlanketYay, Butts! LOL!
October 17, 2009 05:35PM | Re: HEY JOHN DON'T READ THIS THREAD AGAIN smiling smiley
Yeah I assumed it'd just be posted in a .zip folder or something. Selling it is just about surely a big no-no, no matter the good intentions

We are the ones who don't slow down at all...

^Wow, I can't believe I didn't think of that. I guess it just didn't occur to me because it was for a good cause. But I'm sure you're right. It's still going to be awesome.
October 18, 2009 01:09AM | Re: HEY JOHN DON'T READ THIS THREAD AGAIN smiling smiley
Ya, last time I uploaded a .zip folder. I'll be doing the same this year, just because I can't afford the time (or money) to mail out a bunch of physical copies, though I may be able to hook up some people at the Philly show with CD-Rs or something.

I am getting so many submissions, you guys. This is going to be friggen awesome.

ALSO- if you don't want to contribute musically, but still want to contribute, I need an album cover!

ALSO ALSO- guys start brainstorming a title for the compilation!

it was actually 2 7"s btw and the mastering date was 5/1, I cancelled it this a.m.
This is why you should be nice to everyone.

I like this also.

edit: If you are going to be a part of this, I'm most likely going to borrow one of my friend's condenser mics for a couple days and record my song just using Audacity. You are welcome to use any of my guitars/amps/tambourine/shaker/cello/pop filter/stands/etc... or if mine turns out sounding pretty good, I'd be happy to go up there and record yours if you'd like.

Thinks like MANkind means male and female, so it could work.
"Your fellow man" etc.

Hey, this is only mildly related, but this reminds me... does anybody have a copy of "Quetzalcoatl Buys A Tapedeck"? I'd love to hear it if anybody wants to up it.

You live so close and you've never been?! Crazy. Well, the beach is really nice and I remember there being a lot of rides on the seafront which I used to love/probably still would if we went there now. There's a good walk along the promenade, and in the other direction, it's a nice walk along the cliffs to Sewerby Hall.

And I am pretty nifty on the bamboo whistle. I'll consider it a bit more.

Somebody's going to get screwed. It won't be me.
Someday I am going to walk out of here free.

Hey, y'all got another 24 hours for those of you on the fence as to whether or not you want to participate!

My suggestion: participate!

Only the people who participated got a copy of it.

i'm afraid i'm not musically inclined enough to participate, but i have a question for you, acowkickedme. i will be at the philly show and i was wondering if you'd be willing to make extra copies of the mix and bring them along. i'll gladly pay for one or donate to farm sanctuary or something appropriate like that.

I will see my $ situation at the time, but I like the idea of selling copies for FS donations.

Would LOVE to do the cover art, if you still need some (it's what I do for a living, in part)

Would welcome any suggestions people have for what it should be, too (as this is such an open colaboration, it seems the right way to go)

Wait, I thought we couldn't sell copies for FS for legal reasons. Do you think we could if we could get JD's permission?

IDK how it all works (as mentioned before, I guess there are legal issues with selling these covers)... but maybe it could be an honor-system sort of thing... I give you a copy and you make a donation to FS.
