My recording is finished, I'll get it sent along with blurbs in the next few days.

Don't worry! I'm an insanely punctual person! You'll definitely get it by November 22.

I am very sorry about this. Real life happened so I missed the deadline completely. I sent an email to someone with my band name a while back but forgot to include my forum name. I don't mind if it just goes on as Sparkle; that's cool with me.

Also I haven't started my recording yet because I'm without my keyboard. We should be reconciled at the end of next week. I'll send stuff as soon as I can, I promise. Very sorry for any inconvenience.

Keytar FTW!

November 05, 2009 05:43PM | Re: HEY JOHN DON'T READ THIS THREAD AGAIN smiling smiley
Last week I saw a Yamaha SHS-10 keytar in a vintage shop for £40. That is a lot of money for me so I went home and thought about it. The next day I went back to buy it and it had gone.

Fuck you, careful consideration.

I am stuck between wanting to see the cover right now and waiting for the surprise of it. --The surprise is winning. I'm sure they're beautiful, daley.

Is there anyway we could see a tracklising without the song titles? I'm curious who's between who, etc. If it's a suprise too then don't worry about it!

They were post(hahaha)poned until after Christmas on Thursday afternoon, I believe. I didn't go to my Royal Mail interview that morning as I didn't want to have to strike-break. Shame 'cause I'm sure I'd enjoy sorting post, and the sorting office is close-ish.

You'll have to ask Colin if it's OK, he's the boss smiling smiley

that is a shame, everyone should spend a Christmas working for royal mail, it's like a modern equivalent to national service smiling smiley
you'd never trust them to deliver a letter ever again, though...

Colin will probably say no because finding out what the rest of the songs are is half the surprise grinning smiley It's very interesting that the tracklisting is already decided before the songs are done. It will be cool to see how the covers interact with each other. Hopefully the lineup works. I have a feeling the covers are going to be very diverse smiling smiley

Have you done it at all?
I'd love if it was compulsory... I'm sure there's a scary part of me that wouldn't mind being dictated upon, probably the part that decided cadets was A Good Idea...

Good point about the pre-decided order, that hadn't even registered with me!

i was going to post a list of everyone participating, and who got assigned their song (but without the song titles... just XXX's song was assigned to YYY). but i decided not to, because i know some people know the song styles of others on here, so it might ruin a bit of surprise.

it was actually 2 7"s btw and the mastering date was 5/1, I cancelled it this a.m.
This is why you should be nice to everyone.

First practice today. That went much better than I thought. I was worried. This is a lot of fun smiling smiley Unfortunately, my group's guitarist isn't very into the song.

finished our recording session, now just need to choose between the "serious" and the "silly" take!

So the person whose microphone and copy of Garage Band I was going to use to record my song this week just completely flaked on me and now won't be around 'til after the deadline.

OK, here's the plan. One of us will call you, and you can play your song over the phone and we'll record it. It'll be global!

I really like dtrom4's idea...SMAS...you should totally do that. You're one of maybe three forum members I can place a face to, and I'm really looking forward to hearing your cover.

I concur, I feel the lower the sound quality the better. Might as well start off a tMG tribute comp with something lowfi!

I recommend Audacity.

I have a fun idea for the cover of the digital edition that people could download. I think it would be cool to have a CD cover they could also print. People talked about it, like a Sgt. Pepper thing and such. I don't have the software or time to do that, but I had the idea of taking the contributors, typing their names into google image search and finding pictures of people. So it would be all these random pictures of people with the name and then maybe a picture of what comes up when you type in the song title as well?

I'm up for doing that!

Plus since I lost my 3.5mm jack to jack and will be transferring from cassette to computer via dodgy laptop microphone, any poor quality recording will be in good company...
