Yay! Congrats SMS. And good luck. I'm sure it'll be great. Colin, when do we get to hear the songs? No pressure, I know you're a very busy guy. I was just hoping for a date to look forward to grinning smiley (Not that I need anything else to get me excited, I'm already jumping out of my seat for the tour).

The "album" with "release" right before I leave for the DC show on Friday.

mine is going to be sent in late sunday. sorry for the delay but work has been hell and I need to go out and buy a drum machine first thing tomorrow. hopefully this works out well or I'm going to toss it all out and do it in one drunken take.

Hey, I'm feeling lazy: can someone repost what the paragraphs should be?

Thanks!

Also, my song is almost complete. It took an unexpected turn after I wrote the bass line, but I kind of like it.

Colin, I just sent mine. I got fed up trying to do a correct vocal take while whiskey drunk and while it may not be so obvious listening to it, I was absolutely fucked. Cheers to me.

I have to admit, this was really fun. It gave me an excuse to practice some instruments I have been neglecting. I ended up running an 1/8" cord from my old 4 track into the mic input on my computer and recorded it all on audacity using the 4 track's old shit condenser (since the computer mic is so terrible).

Hope to hear everyone's stuff soon.

Did anyone else discover whilst participating in this project that actually they can't sing?

'Cause I did. thumbs down

Edit: what I actually came to say is I'm sending my song now. And also whilst playing it through, discovered courtesy of Last.FM:

Sparkle (born Stephanie Edwards) is an American R&B singer, initially a protege of R. Kelly.

This isn't me btw, jsyk.

Somebody's going to get screwed. It won't be me.
Someday I am going to walk out of here free.

I learned that the first time I recorded myself. But the more I play and sing, I find my voice gets a slightly better, and more significantly, the more I get used to my own voice so I it doesn't really bother me. Unless I'm singing unaccompanied. Then I have to confront how terrible I am.

Quick Audacity question: How do I add in a pause as to move a note over without moving the whole line? Basically I want to add a little more blue line in the middle of a part but I can't figure it out.

I think I understand what you're asking. If you go to Edit -> Detach at silences it'll split things up wherever there's silence. You can then use the time shift tool [<-->] to slide things around.

Glad you're powering through with this, Rockin-Rockin-Pet-Store-Joe!

edited for inadvertent smiley creation...

Truest in the world. An hour ago I was thinking "shite do I really have to put this on the internet?" - now I've heard it so many times I am completely numb to it.

I'm almost done! I'm rushing to finish it, and it should be in by the end of the day today!

It was more of, "wow, one day it's going to be a choice between playing guitar/singing or smoking. I'm sure dreading that decision day."

Ours is basically done. TK is making final tweaks and will send it to you soon - along with his other track I'm sure.

TrucKurata in full effect.

acowkickedme, I've still sent you mine (and you responded to my e-mail), but I guess I can resend.

Alright, mine's...done? Sounds weird to say as frantic as I was to even get started 24 hours ago. Is it great? I don't think so, but I like it and it's different enough from the album version that I'm at least proud of that aspect of it.

Colin, should we send it as WAV or MP3?

I think nigel wants WAV, 'lest we face his Brooklyn rage. Probably uploading it for downloading would be recommended in that case (drop.io has been suggested, I'd suggest megaupload), as WAV files are generally huge.

Colin asked for drop.io so that's what I'll use I just want to know what format HE prefers or makes it easier for him to do what's doing
