YESSSSSSSSSS managed to blag a keyboard. Sadly not an original Casiotone or a keytar but an instrument I can actually play (N.B. no matter how my song turns out this is true: I can play).

Oh man the stress. Sorry university, my research project is ON HOLD till Sunday.

You can "phone it in" straight to mp3 on [drop.io]

I'm about to lay down the last track for my song. I keep forgetting to finish it. The 22nd is closing in.

Edit: would sending it as a .wav work? When I export it as a .mp3, the bass gets really muddy and shitty and unintelligible. Sorry if I seem picky. I'm a little bit of a perfectionist.

I'm not acowkickedme, but I encourage you (and everyone!) to send your track as a wav. Down with mp3 compression!

To stay on topic, I'm almost done with my song too...hoping to have it done by tomorrow or Friday.
November 19, 2009 02:52AM | Re: HEY JOHN DON'T READ THIS THREAD AGAIN smiling smiley
I'm finishing mine Friday. I'm planning on sending it in as an uncompresses AIFF. That way you can make legit CDs. At least with my track.
November 19, 2009 06:19PM | Re: HEY JOHN DON'T READ THIS THREAD AGAIN smiling smiley
so I decided because I'm lazy to use an online loops generator to record the music part for my song. I'm going to record the vocals on Saturday when Talking Blanket finally get together (it's been three weeks since we last were) and then I'll put it up on drop.io for acow.

So yeah, I haven't forgotten yet!

i still need songs from these people. please try to get them to me by sunday night/monday morning (btw, not saying you have to, but putting your forum name in the subject line of your email, uploading your song to drop.io, and providing a link in the email are three things that would make me incredibly happy, as i should be receiving almost 30 songs this weekend).

if your name is on this list, but you have emailed me your song, then i probably messed up. just resend it, por favor.

November 20, 2009 01:32AM | Re: HEY JOHN DON'T READ THIS THREAD AGAIN smiling smiley
My band members recordings are just finished. They're sending them to me tomorrow. If everything works out I'll probably have it to you tomorrow night.

Although I have a rather busy work schedule, finishing this song is on the top of my priority list. I will most definitely have it to you soon.

I'm finished but I'm not sure what I should render it as.
I personally think it sounds great at 320kbps mp3, is this ok?

YAY!!!! We finished recording yesterday. But we have 3 good takes and I'm struggling to pick which one to submit. I really hope it's ok but I'm going to submit in mp3 form. I have absolutely no technology skills and have no idea how to do this lossless business. I can't wait to hear everyone else's stuff. We had a blast recording this.

I just checked and I can't render lossless in my program, so I'm guessing that's the best way I can do it.

For those who don't know, "lossless" can mean aiff, wav, or flac. Basically any format that does not throw away any sound information, unlike mp3, m4a, etc., which do. Lossy formats are perfectly wonderful for certain times, it's just that when you're making a recording you don't want to be chucking out any data before it gets to the listener on disc.

Reminder: if you haven't sent in your paragraphs, DO IT SOON. Please! Thanks so much to everybody who already has. grinning smiley

I'm doing it, you guys, I'm doing it!

Loaded up Audacity and convinced a relative that a usb condenser mic would make a great X-mas gift. So...it may end up complete crap, but even if I don't like the little experiments I have right now I cat at least have SOME form of a track by the end of tomorrow (cross your fingers...for your ears).
