Trying to track down a song...

February 21, 2007 03:16PM | Trying to track down a song...
... that has to be Mountain Goats. I heard it while cruising down the NJ Turnpike on WPRB Princeton radio at least five years ago, probably more like seven or eight. It was a cappella with some lyrics like "whiskey runs through me like a sorrowful river ... nothing clearer than the mind of a drunk". Something along those lines. Any help would be appreciated. It was definitely the first time I heard the Mountain Goats, hoping the tune lives up to the memory.

I'm not sure what song your referring to off the top of my head, but www.themountaingoats.net has a nice selection of lyrics, if you care to look through.

I googled "whiskey runs through me like a sorrowful river" and brought me this [www.pitchforkmedia.com] But that was released last year :/

That's "The Bitter Cup" by Billy Childish. Not sure if you heard his version or the version The Singing Loins did on their album with him.
