Moon Colony Bloodbath (the actual music)

April 02, 2009 02:25PM | Moon Colony Bloodbath (the actual music)
Starting this because the other thread sort of got out of hand. I'm personally not interested in the finer points of record trading or the morality of eBay business, and I don't even own a gramophone so don't really care about the physical availability of this - but I'm really interested in knowing what it sounds like. Because judging by Surrounded, this might be the best thing in quite some time.

So has anyone heard it yet?

I'm really digging Columns Pillars Steps, too...

He'd make you pay for the information.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if it turned out to be someone from here just trying to be kind to the forums peeps and getting ridiculed. Hahaha my ass off.

If anyone actually has the EP, it would be great to know the song title of the song that begins "call me the running man" that JV performed in NYC.

Ive heard it, and it is wonderful. The vocal recordings of both Darnielle and Vanderslice are so, clean; and the production on all of the songs is so damn rich. I can't believe they put such a mature recording together so quickly. I can't say it's better than Black Pear Tree because it's so different, but I can already predict that it's going to spend as much time on my turntable as BPT did.

But I did not want to shoot the elephant.

I've heard it too and it's really wonderful. Very peaceful in tone but not in subject matter. An enchanting amalgamation of two wonderfully talented men. I have to agree with WC that the production is immaculate.

Also, best version of Surrounded yet.

I heard Steps Columns Pillars on nyctaper's thing and at the Somerville show I think they played it, but I could be wrong, but it is gorgeous. It will be in my top 10, I can already tell.

I'm downloading this at the moment, so I'm yet to hear it, but... he performed The Sign? I wasn't aware that anything could increase my love for JD, but this has done it. I have been singing this song to people for years.

I highly suggest that you search Youtube for different videos of it. They never fail to disappoint.
