I always thought it was done by someone in the record-making process sneaking out a copy.

What about the new Wolverine movie? Leaked without some of the special effects etc... Surely that has to be a steal?

And what about Hail and Farewell, Gothenburg? I thought that HAD to have been naughty people sneaking in and stealing, there would be no advance promos for that, one would think.

I think this was at the Northhampton Show, but I remember hearing one of the John's say that the record sounded more like tMG songs with JV helping and JV songs with JD helping so they didn't call it The Comedians.

I dunno if that means that The Comedians are disbanded for good or just for this record.

From the description given here, it did seem like a complete album was planned. Which I guess it sort of was. But then it turned into a EP. That's the creative process for you.
