tMG tattoo thread version whatever

A couple years ago, I decided I wanted "tMG" on my wrist and I was like "Hey, what font should I use? Oh, I'll use John's handwriting, that'll work" so when I saw them in Minneapolis Halloween '07, I had John write tMG on a piece of paper. I turned eighteen a few months ago and have kind of been putting off having it done and then yesterday I just thought "Well, I just got paid so might as well" and went and had it done.

It's not as cool of a tattoo, art-wise or whatever, as others I've seen on here but I quite like it.

I've wanted a tattoo on my wrist for a while, but I'm all freaked out because the tendons are so close to the surface....how was it?

Not too bad. More annoying/uncomfortable than painful. This one took like three minutes though so I'd imagine anything bigger would be worse.

I don't usually bruise all that much, so unlike ms heather starling I should be able to post a picture friday night!

I have two tMG tattoos...and for anyone considering getting work done on your wrists...it hurts. A lot. Obviously the more filled in the design is the more it will hurt. There are more painful places to get them, though...

You think? Mine didn't hurt much at all. Though I was mentally comparing it to the previous tat, which is just above the back of my knee and although I adore the tat... ow. just a lot of ow.

Just curious - did you tell him why you wanted it? If so, did he try to talk you out of it?

I'm not saying that because I think he should have - I actually really like it - I just imagine that would be his reaction.

Also - how much do they charge for three plain black letters?

No, I didn't, I don't think. He was pretty drunk at the time and at don't think it mattered a whole lot. I want to get something similar for my other favorite band, Against Me!, and I had their guitarist write AM! and said it was for a tattoo and he got really self-conscious or something, like he was worried he was going to mess it up.

Their shop minimum was $60, but she said I'll get a deal next time I go in.

RedDwarf: I think it is a fantastically done tattoo. It takes guts to put it there, and it is subtle and really cool in an indie kinda way. Plus it's not flashy and does not necessarily require an explanation. A small tattoo can mean just as much as a large and to have it done in simple writing is awesome. Good on ya man!

Yeah, my feelings exactly!

Although, on the tMG/TMG issue, I did tell John to do the lowercase 't'. So I might've ruined it. I wonder what he'd've done if I didn't specify. Damnit.

John has said many times that the "the" in "the Mountain Goats" is always with a lowercase "t", so the abbreviation would, logically, be tMG.
