Is there a reason my track didn't make it on the project? For some reason I thought all the submissions would be on there.

Adam, I opened it with the trial version of WinRAR, which comes in versions for several OS types. That's the software Windows XP recommended when I tried to open the file, and it's also recommended in this article (along with a couple others).

acowkickedme, mad props for pulling this project together. I'm loading the songs into my music player right now; so excited to hear them!

Mtn. Girl, the covers are stunning! Beautiful, beautiful work. smiling smiley

If you are having problems with the RAR...hey look I made an alternate drop:

[drop.io]

these are the unzipped mp3s, you can download *or* stream from this drop. You can also click "Dropcast" on the right side of the page and all the tracks will import directly into iTunes (very cool feature).

smiling smiley good job guys!

I want to know who Hannah is. She has a lovely voice.

(more comments as I finish listening)

Poor Academics: I dig the german Norwegian take on it.
Hannah: As I said, beautiful voice
El Nombre: a nice, solid take on the original.
Dan: (this is me. I think I did great winking smiley. It isn't entirely an accident that my voice is kind of drowned out.)
Bellweather: I like the opening lines sung like that, and the understated guitar support.
Valrus: I thought it was going to be a pretty traditional version, but I like how you built up the supporting instruments. I should have done more of that in my version.
Smith Family: the harmonica made me think "Midnight Train to Georgia." Then I realized how appropriate that was.
Beatrice: haha, small hands. nice. Some of those lines you hit very powerfully. And I like the trail off at the end.
Mr. Motte: is this the cassio version? It makes the solo stick out nicely.
Waylaid: beautiful guitar playing. But are sure that the feeling of being in motion again isn't the most depressing thing about coming home to you? The song takes on new meaning as a dirge.
Bachelors: very 90's garage rock. And I mean that in a good way.

Great job, everyone. I like this a lot more that I thought I would. I mean, who would want to listen to a bunch of versions of the same song? I'm not sure if we're just better/more creative musicians than I thought we were, or if the song just stands up really well to punishment.

Once again, thanks for putting this together, Mr. kickedme.

Edited because I am a terrible linguist.

here we go, throw up your GTG covers here if they didn't make the album, we can never have enough!!!

i put my remix on there...I might record a track too for fun!

[drop.io]

Click on "Files," then "Add Files" to upload.

Add as a Dropcast and your iTunes Podcast will automatically update if someone adds something!

You can even call this phone number, sing/play Going to Georgia into the phone, and it will automatically add that as an mp3 to the drop!

Damn.
All you who submitted and I fucked up on... I'm sorry.

I downloaded each track as it came to me and put it in a folder on my desktop... not really sure where in that process I messed up, but please accept my deepest apologies.

Hey ackm, no worries. I forgive you. As long as our tracks get heard, there's really no problem.

joeh: I love the electro-funk version. I don't really like that style of music, but I had to listen to it several times. Great energy and weird synth.
zisel: I like the old church organ intro, and the zelda-ish organ thing at the end.
tkurata: I don't really like remixes, so I'll just trust everybody else who says that it is a wonderful remix. I do dig the background music, though.
