The Mountain Goats Lyrics in Photos

August 19, 2008 11:38AM | The Mountain Goats Lyrics in Photos
I'm a very visual person, so I'm curious to see if we can pull this off.

Do you live near any of the places mentioned in a Mountain Goats lyric? I'd love to see your pictures of places like the Throg's Neck Bridge, Holt Boulevard, and Chino Hills Medical Center.

The more specific, the better this thread will be. Let's see your travel shots! Can we get the whole "Going To" Series in photos?

Brooklyn. :c)

From, umm, Genesis 19:1-2, Down Here, and Lovecraft In. Probably others.

This is the Gowanus Canal, which is very near Red Hook where HP Lovecraft lived.

btw Lloyd Center didn't look like that in the 80s. Like a lot of places in Portland, it had this "isn't it still 1978" feeling to it. Here is a picture of its skating rink in 1969. It looked much the same when I lived down the street.

A mall with a skating rink. That's fantastic.

I was driving through Portland recently and had some time to kill, when I noticed an exit sign for Lloyd Center. I immediately thought of SBLS #8 and needless to say I made my girlfriend stop and check it out. It's nice see the retro image too. It got me thinking about other tMG songs from Portland and saw the Broadway Bridge on the map, but I couldn't convince her to walk across it. We came to a compromise that we could drive across it, if we went to the Blossoming Lotus Cafe. It's an awesome raw food restaurant. I mean where else can you vegan soft serve?

That's a great restaurant, one of the best vegan places in town probably.

i've got an awesome picture of the Macon County line but I can't get it to show up on the forum page -- I'm apparently a little dense.

This might require thought, living in a couple of Damned English Cities probably is a bit tenuous?...one of my damned English cities is twinned with Reykjavik, but that's even more tenuous...

Probably not the right Damned English City, but this is Hull, voted worst place to live in 2005...if that's not damnation, I don't know what is:
