Unoriginal42 - I went through your list, and I have a dozen or so shows that you do not. Likewise, you have 10 or so that I would love to get. Interested inna trade?

I certainly am. If you have msn, you'll find me at daniel (at) 14lines.com - otherwise email me and we'll sort out something wonderful.

Send me an email at jason.w.ward (at) gmail.com

Wow, come back after a bit of a break (some hectic offline stuff going on) and stumble onto all this! Thank you to all you guys, what great community and even better music!

The CBGB and Absolutely Kosher sets have already blown me away wow!

have I used enough exclamation points yet?!!!!!!!!!

Does anybody have a recording of 1995 Empty Bottle session? It supposedly has "Going to Buffalo" and since I am currently living in Buffalo, I'm curious to hear it.

Thanks

whoa: another Buffalonian on this board? me too, Andrew.

where you at?

This is going off topic a little bit but does anyone know what the deal with Etiquette Song is? It's on tmg.net and there is a tab for it in the wiki but there is no information on it besides that it's unreleased.

Does anybody know where/when it was played?

I've been playing it myself just from the tab and I must sound comically untrue to the actual song.

Did you make it to the (fairly) recent show at the Buffalo Icon?

Pretty good stuff!

I was actually busy that night and went up to Toronto the night before (or the night after; I can't remember) and saw them there.

I was at the '05 Icon show, which was un-fucking-real; it's on archive.org and, although the sound is only so-so, the song selection is totally awesome!

Well, the reason I'm bringing this back up is a sad one. When I lost my last computer I also lost some of the fantastic stuff from this thread that, as you can see above, I was absolutely loving. This included the Absolutely Kosher set, the one from CBGB and the '99 Cat's Cradle show. Of course the sendspace postings are long gone, but if people don't want to just re-up them on here I'd be glad to have someone email me and we could work something out, I have some things that maybe others would like (one from the Earl in Atlanta, couple others). Pretty please?

Oh and no matter what way it should end up working out I'd agree to keep them whole and not start sharing random songs in random places. Thanks!

realized just today that there was a flaw in this because noone could SEE my email haha. that is now fixed

I believe that Going to East Rutheford and Going To Bridlington are one in the same, I can't confirm/deny, but I remember hearing this somewhere.

I'm from Clifton, a few miles away from East Rutherford, NJ and I had always assumed this as well. Supporting this is also John's CA history and the track Song For An Old Friend which references "good old East Rutherford three thousand miles away".

I thought Going to Bridlington was originally Going to Burlington, and it was changed when the author commenced a stage of naming songs after some damn English cities, and this got caught up in those efforts.

Basically Zopilote Steel swiped the song from nall's friend who was sharing live stuff in the original DC++ but accidentally put that in the folder. I think he took it and bailed and then later on thought it'd be cool to put the lyrics on songmeanings.net. That's the gamble though, you share with nice polite folk, but you never know who may be lurking. That's why some songs will just never get shared nowadays.

It's been years but those are the deets to my estimation. At least as they were relayed to me.

He'd stream it through shoutcast every once in a while amongst many other rarities I'll never hear again. One time he was pretty drunk I actually got him to play Seventh Shield Song. Aint ever gonna hear that one again.

but he made me wear a clownsuit and walk around town giving balloons to kids.
