thanks in advance dl5!

BTW, the most recent show on archive.org (3/2/08 at Bottom of the Hill– and yeah, I know the thread is titled Old recordings) is a doozy. Kinda biased 'cos I was there, but it's got my favorite live version of the Sign, including extended digressions in the middle of the song.

live or in any form

please be aware that any songs recorded on a personal medium, and not live, are just the same as albums; they should not be posted here.

Simple rule, if you don't whether or not its live, don't share it.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be safer than sorry and assume this also applies to unreleased stuff (like ...Pomona), unless I hear otherwise.

Any relation to Phillip?

No, this is cool to share.
It's from a radio performance.
Many "unreleased" songs exist in some live form out there, be it radio shows or concert tapes.
There's a ton of actually unreleased files floating around out there, but they all have that tape grind and are obviously John's own home recordings.

This whole thing is a really great session, worth seeking out.

it was actually 2 7"s btw and the mastering date was 5/1, I cancelled it this a.m.
This is why you should be nice to everyone.
April 12, 2008 11:49AM | Re: Old Live Recordings
standard disclaimer: alpha compunction is the title I gave it. the real title is lost to the sands of time.

also, don't collect single mp3s outside of the context of the show. it's lame.
April 12, 2008 12:39PM | Re: Old Live Recordings
ALSO ........

Please don`t collect single shows outside the context of the year.Thats extra lame.

argghh... not another "Hallelujah" cover! even a mountain goats one. whatever the merits of the underlying song are, they have been utterly, utterly destroyed for me in the past 5 or 6 years. Have you heard Bono's version on Tower of Song? [shudder] That song needs a 20-year cooling period before it can be played again.

The Mummy's Hand

Were you saying you wanted that, or just saying what it is?
April 13, 2008 05:40PM | Re: Old Live Recordings
Just mentioning it as a representative in the context of your post. Not that it matters, but somewhere I have the original lossless stream that I circulated via torrent after hearing it live on the radio earlier in the day. A whopping 112 people grabbed that set over the 101 day period prior to deletion. I used to be so excitable about those kinds of things...

Format snobs, while often misunderstood, are rarely homicidal.

One that I have been dying to hear is "Going to Spirit Lake". Is there any chance that anyone has it?

Haha, apparently google pages have an unstated bandwidth limit. I suppose you get what you pay for smiling smiley

Since I don't really know what that limit is, I can't offer any predictions as to when mp3s will be available again, but I guess if you missed out this time around, you can check back later!
