Personally Most Listened to tMG song

March 22, 2008 03:41PM | Personally Most Listened to tMG song
I thought this might be a fun sort of game.

Just go to your iTunes or your iPod (if you use either) and see which tMG song has the most plays.

For iTunes my most played is Cubs in Five

on my iPod it ranks:

1. Fault Lines- 48
2. Thought About You a Little (Birthday Cake Song)- 45
3. Home Again Garden Grove- 44
4. This Year- 40
5. The Irony Engine- 36

Edited to put in number of plays

I don't know how to find this out - I use Foobar, not iTunes, to play from my iPod when it's plugged in, and I don't keep the library on the PC.

Apart from Parentheses by the Blow, You Can't Hurry Love by Diana Ross and the Supremes and La Belle S'Est Etourdie by Kate and Anna McGarrigle, my top 25 played songs on my iPod are all by tMG.
(1) Parentheses)
2) The Sign
3) The Alphonse Mambo
4) We Were Patriots
5) Onions
6) Golden Boy
I walk to and from school listening to music, and I must have decided these are the songs which are best for walking or making myself not turn back around and run away.
March 23, 2008 02:55PM | Re: Personally Most Listened to tMG song
On iTunes:
1. Snow Crush Killing Song- 85
2. New Britain- 52
3. Twin Human Highway Flares- 49
4. There Will Be No Divorce- 40
5. Snow Owl and I Love You. Let's Light Ourselves on Fire (shhhhhhhh) are tied at 35

On my iPod, it's almost the same, as far as selection:
1. Snow Crush- 88
2. Twin Human- 32
3. Snow Owl- 30
4. TWBND tied with New Britain at 29
5. Orange Ball of Love- 28

It's funny, I really expected Snow Crush Killing song to top my entire library for plays, but for some reason, Fiery Furnace's Ex-Guru takes the cake. This is probably because it's on a mix I made which I listen to a lot, but damn--I feel like I have listened to TMG a lot more than that one song. Weird. Maybe it plays on shuffle when I'm away from my computer.
March 23, 2008 03:05PM | Re: Personally Most Listened to tMG song
i know that the 3 that i often put on repeat are:

against pollution
store
nine black poppies
March 23, 2008 05:56PM | Re: Personally Most Listened to tMG song
lately, it's probably been;
warm lonely planet
thought about you a little
ghosts
the sign
no, I can't
March 24, 2008 05:08AM | Re: Personally Most Listened to tMG song
I've just shifted my music to my new MacBook, so the ratings are very low and skewed!

Top of the Pops are

Sign of the Crow - 8
Dance Music - 8
No Children - 7
Palmcorder Yajna - 7

But on my old machine I'm pretty sure Broom People is my clear #1! It's the one I sing along to and play on guitar most!
March 24, 2008 05:31AM | Re: Personally Most Listened to tMG song
I've reset my iTunes a few times, but my guess is that my list would look something like this:

Alpha Rat's Nest
Treetop Song
Jam Eater Blues
Attention All Pickpockets
Baboon
The Recognition Scene
Nine Black Poppies
Jaipur
Cubs in Five
March 24, 2008 07:22AM | Re: Personally Most Listened to tMG song
My iTunes and last.fm screw up a lot, but my list is probably:

1. Attention All Pickpockets
2. This Year
3. Cobscook Bay
4. Distant Stations (Zoop Version)
5. Tulsa Imperative
6. Twin Human Highway Flares

And pretty much the rest of The Sunset Tree
March 24, 2008 07:25AM | Re: Personally Most Listened to tMG song
(There was seriously a point when I had Attention All Pickpockets on more or less constant repeat for 2-3 days.)
March 24, 2008 11:59AM | Re: Personally Most Listened to tMG song

last.fm says...

March 31, 2008 07:53PM | Re: Personally Most Listened to tMG song
i need to ad minnesota. 288 plays.
March 31, 2008 08:08PM | Re: Personally Most Listened to tMG song
According to my iTunes (new computer, so this is only for the past month or two)

1. Weekend in Western Illinois (21)
2. Ox Baker Triumphant (20)
3. Ontario (19)
4. This Year (19)
5. Down Here (17)

I've kinda been binging on FFG. smiling smiley I am glad to see that I'm not alone in having Weekend in Western Illinois as my most played... it's one of my favorite songs, but my girlfriend mocks me for it, so I feel a little vindicated now. She and I too often get into tMG-related battles (e.g. I'm forced to pretend not to like San Bernardino, one of her favorites, since she's always hating on So Desperate, which I love).
March 31, 2008 08:12PM | Re: Personally Most Listened to tMG song
"Dance Music" no question. Taps into a lot of childhood and teenage pathos. One of those songs where you can stomp to it 50 times and start crying the 51st.
