Ya know, I think this was a really neat idea for an interview. I hadn't heard of the whole turntable thing before. I'll have to check it out! (I'll also have to find someone to exchange songs with! hahaha)
I do think it might have had a bit more potential for being really great, though. The interviewer might have contributed more about her own selections (like JD requested) which in turn may have made the conversation between them a little more interesting and natural. I think if it was a more normal coversation (as opposed to an interview-type q & a) there would have been the possibility for some really interesting thoughts to surface with an exchange of ideas on their music selections. Instead, the interviewer seemed to want to stick to simply asking JD questions, which made the scenario in which the interview held seem like a moot point.
(Not to mention her repeated choice to inquire about 'genre' after JD seemed to point out that he's not really a fan of that concept.)
Had there been more of an exchange between them in regard to the music they were both listening to, it may have put a little more meat-on-the-bone, so to speak, and they may have been able to afford to edit out the whole this-is-how-you-work-turntable part in the beginning.
Anyway, just my opinion. But what do I know?
