i was thinking outside on my walk during lunch about joni's woodstock and how we're spookily stardust, old light. the wife doesn't believe in an afterlife, and i'm always trying to come up with some scheme that she'd admit sounds plausible enough to give me some props for. it's never come to pass, and probably never will. but i think, therefore i stink.

anyway, we have this sentience permeating the atoms that compose us, most call it a soul, that supposedly differentiates us from the atoms which compose a rock. we smart monkeys can talk and think and reason and fart and laugh at it because we have souls. animals i guess, have lesser souls because they can fart, but they can't fart and laugh at it. but for me to say that rocks have souls just like us, well, it's just plain correct, and i can prove it. first, listen to some rock music, then listen to some soul music. see?



everything's atoms. we're no different from a rock just because it can't fart. some rocks actually do pass gas, you dig? and everytime i catch a fish and hit it on the head, i can feel its atoms start to disperse right there in my hand. i forget what i was on that time, but shit, it definitely seemed real.



in other words, reality is just a thin layer of atoms on the outside of your eyeball that filters what is actually there into what you think you see.



so, who's to say there's no afterlife?

now THAT's what i'm talkin about! i need that as an 80 min loop, just fill the entire cd. it's such a pleasing, cool, as in not warm, sound. it sounds like what it feels like when the pirates of the caribbean ride starts out on the rails, but then splooshes gently quietly into the cold dark water. i need a fricken DVD with that looped to fill the entire dvd. this sound needs to be a mountain goat. sure john, you can make new albums. but not without loopy here, backing everything up. satisfy the oldbees and the newbies in one masterstroke. OOOOHh.....UNNNnngh.

no, but i have a whole album planned. i will hold the strings on the neck in various places and at various times and with various beer bottles, and he will hit the strings right around where the pickups are with frozen turkey drumsticks. at max volume with max feedback! i will then flip the entire 80 min track so that the whole thing plays backwards.

and the second track will be that tape grinding noise posted above.

i got my now 15 year old girl to start playing by completely refusing to show her how to play. she's that way. she ended up picking up the damn thing and now she sings AND plays better than me. 'course, she won't go near the frozen turkey drumsticks.
