Where can one buy Darnielle side project mp3s or CDs? Meaning The Congress, Seneca Twins, etc. Extra Glenns/Lens are on iTunes, but I don't see anything else anywhere.
April 22, 2012 09:13PM | Re: Side Projects
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that The Congress doesn't exist.

I've got big plans.Talking BlanketYay, Butts! LOL!

Whoa, a little googling turned up this nice diagram:

Also, I'd try poking around here.

Seneca Twins is one bootleg cassette. Not online anywhere I know of.

And the Congress definitely don't exist.
April 23, 2012 07:32AM | Re: Side Projects
Seneca Twins were supposed to release a 7" on Mind Of A Child records way back but it never came out.

While The Congress don't exist, someone has reimagined what they might have sounded like here.

wckrspgt.com is the place to go for Bloody Hawaiians - here and here in addition to dtrom4's link above.

Yup, I have a letter from the guy who ran the label (from c.1996? - I'll have to check) wherein he claims to have given JD the money to record it!!
April 23, 2012 08:38AM | Re: Side Projects
Surely that's a binding contract.

They owe that dude (and, by association - us) a record!

let's get dressed up in costumes and dance by the bar.
April 23, 2012 02:27PM | Re: Side Projects
or at least the money.

Download the entire Wckr Spgt site and you'll find john popping up all over the place. It's fun to hear him or his guitar playing randomly show up.

He's not showing off, those are just swiped from tmg.net

Wasn't Sentwins some sort of school project? I can't recall the exact details but I remember hearing it was a project of Lalitree's.

there were, like, thirty? - don't remember - cassettes pressed up & I think distributed by Lalitree as part of her semester in Chicago - can't remember the name of the arts program she was doing there that September-December.

The Extra Glenns' "That" (High Fly Graveyard) is a Congress cover.
April 23, 2012 09:13PM | Re: Side Projects
I'd like to clarify that my comment about The Congress doesn't exist is a reference. I can't remember from where though, I think it was liner notes to something.

April 24, 2012 12:30AM | Re: Side Projects
Dare I say that I'm pretty sure nall is wrong on this one, btw, and that JD was not "in" Chicken Damage?
April 24, 2012 04:36AM | Re: Side Projects
JD played drums in late period Chicken Damage but isn't on the tape.
April 24, 2012 09:34AM | Re: Side Projects
Righto. I figured there was probably an association there even if I was calling a technicality.
