Last year it was pretty reasonable why they didn't make it happen, but I wonder if there's a more real possibility this summer. Five years ago today JD started the discussion which would become ZOOP! (I totally did that by accident or my unconscious mind is far creepier than I thought) and would be awesome to do again. May be a bit more difficult because the first time really seemed like a communal forum thing and if he announced it on twitter it would probably sell out faster than it did back then. I'm sure badgering him about it won't make it any more receptive to the idea, so let's just hope he lurks here still. What do you guys think, who would still be 100% behind the trip no matter if it was announced months before or a week before?

it would basically be my holiday for this year, though i don't think it will happen. I'm by no means a 'lifer', but i'm certainly hardcore enough to spend my savings on a trip to the states (never been) to coincide with a tMG show.

But in all seriousness, I doubt it'll happen due to a few reasons: one of which is baby Roman H. D.

The other reason, which is perhaps an argument for why it shouldn't, is part of what Alex mentioned in the first post. When it happened the past two times, it started very much as a small forum thing. Other intense tMG fans went and were able to go, but it was announced here, and here first, before (at least the second time) making it to the front page later. But plenty less people check the front page, even, than follow JD on twitter. The size concern would be entirely unmanageable that way. Think, for example, how quickly the 500 All Survivor's Pack stuff went from Merge, and then keep in mind that maybe maybe 200 people get to go to Zoop. It would be a madhouse if it were first come first serve. It it does happen, it won't happen that way.

Which leaves the only other option left, as I see it, for Zoop III happening: some sort of lottery system. You enter, and if you're lucky, you get to go. It's not out of the question, but I feel like the community (ie, the people around here) are very likely to get largely and vocally grumpy about the system if we didn't luck out (including myself, just so it's clear) which is unpleasant, sure, but also unpleasant in JD's space. More importantly, I feel like that kind of thing might ultimately taint the memory of what was a very cool and awesome thing. It's not the only cool and awesome tMG thing to not really be feasible anymore, just another one to add to the list.

But despite my thoughts that it won't happen, if it gets announced I'll do my damnedest to get on board again, of course. That weekend of Zoop II was more fun than it had any right to be, really.

It's really hard to believe that a fanbase came wooshing in since 2007. I mean not that it isn't merited, but I always thought I saw the great wave came with Sunset Tree, but now that was just like a ripple.

Despite all that the forums are still a very personal and low-key thing it seems. If John were to mention it only here I still think it'd work out... but I suppose him not posting really is an indicator of things to come. I won't leave y'all hanging though. I've held on to this for five years and the only other emergence this song has had was an incomplete version on archive.org. The whole bootleg is not the best (in fact it veers on the worst) so I don't know if it'll ever see the light of day or for my personal memory, because that's what it is moreso than a bootleg.

I'll probably feel weird and delete it tomorrow, but y'all should keep it round these parts.
