I mentioned this in the On The Road section, but then realized only people going to tonights show might be looking at the thread. Anyways, tonight's show in New Orleans is being webcast through the Tipitina's website. Having watched a show or two on the site in the past, It's a pretty low quality webcast, and sometimes it crashes or barely works, but the audio is usually decent if nothing else. I'm going to be at the show tonight, but would love it if someone managed to capture a copy of the webcast as well. And if not, that's okay too. Just enjoy the show from the comfort of your own homes!

Thanks for the heads-up! I won't be able to capture it, as I have no idea how that sort of thing works, but I'll certainly be watching (or at least attempting to do so). Between this and the three shows I'm attending in the next six days, I hope to hear some material from Transcendental Youth.

Ah, sorry I got everyone excited for nothing. The show was fun, and the new songs sounded great! I taped it, but i'm not sure when i'm actually going to post it to the LMA.. I know John told people to avoid recordings if they don't want to spoil the new songs, but I also don't really want to be the first one to spread them online lol. I'll post the setlist in a little while once i can listen through the tape.

Isn't it usually the done thing to not post bootlegs until the new album is released?

I mean, i know people can choose not to d/l the bootleg, but that's not the point i guess.

Yeah, I'd really rather the bootlegs from Transcendental Youth weren't posted until it is released. I mean, unless John explicitly says otherwise, anything older or that he confirms won't be on the album is fair game, but for the band's sake, I don't want the new material floating around until after the album drops.

The way John worded it on the home page made it sound like it's up to the user to avoid recordings if they don't want to hear the songs, but i also know in the past he hasn't exactly been thrilled with new material getting out early. So like you guys said, i was already thinking of just holding on to the recording and waiting until the album comes out. I know i don't want to be the one stepping on John's toes. It's just hard when you've got something burning a hole in your pocket that you want to share with everybody lol. Hope they get to recording soon, the world needs some new Mountain Goats music

If you want to share the rest of the show now, I don't think there would be any problem with that.

I just may do that. I won't post an incomplete show to the LMA, but perhaps i'll make an mp3 version to post here that cuts out all the new songs for now. The recording turned out pretty good so it seems a shame not to share at least some of it. Hopefully i'll have it ready in the next day or two.
