I found this Kickstarter project, and it looks pretty cool.

Hey, thanks for the shout-out. I listened through "A Gramophone in Every Grave" and thoroughly enjoyed it. Are you going to submit a cover?

Thanks! I may submit a cover, depending on how much recording time I'll have over the next few weeks.

I can't believe I missed this until this morning when JD retweeted!! I sure hope that this forum will help contribute to this incredible project. I'm hoping to submit a song for this too, it feels historic . . .

I'm very thankful to John for doing that. Ann Powers from NPR also tweeted about it last night, which was pretty exciting.

Please, feel free to submit as many demos as you want. I'm looking forward to hearing all of them (I hope our servers can handle it).

I'm on it! I quite literally bailed on my day's activities grabbed my guitar and am getting to work right now. I've got a couple of ideas for See America Right, partly because it's still up for grabs, and partly because I never in a million years thought of doing a cover of it . . . Thanks for creating an awesome project and sharing the opportunity to participate with others!

Aw, now everyone knows about the project, and my chances of being selected are going to get much slimmer!

But will be submitting a pretty straight forward lo-fi cover of "See America Right" ASAP, then will use a week or two working on a synth-pop-y cover of "Idylls Of The King" (I love that song) before submitting that.

Why's everyone in this thread a f***ing Mountain Goats fan?!

So far, See America Right has been the most popular submission. Not surprising I guess, given that it was the first single from Tallahassee.

EvilEivind was kind enough to send me the links to the past Mountain Goats compilations from the forums, got some good stuff on there.

Looking forward to hearing all of these. You guys are going to make the decision process pretty hard for me and the other judges. Still, can't wait for it.

We'll see. That will depend on the total amount we raise from the kickstarter. As it stands, if we only raise the bare minimum needed to succeed, we'll only be getting the bare minimum needed to get this project off the ground.

I would love to incorporate the B-sides in some way, but we'll have to see how it turns out.

alpha chum gatherer?

Maybe the Yamaraja Racers could tackle that.

This does sound awfully cool. Might have to submit. Not much chance of getting in but I'll give it a try. But NOT Alpha Rat's Nest this time. Nice to have the opportunity to pick smiling smiley

Justin neglects to mention that he was the one who pushed the project to not just 100% funding, but 103% funding with about 2 weeks left to raise additional funds. Anything extra will go to mastering the album and providing a budget/stipend to the musicians that are participating in the project.

Thank you Justin for your generous contribution.

Believe me, I would love nothing more than some kick-ass covers from some girls. We'll see what we get in the demo submissions.

I'd like to see Laura Marling or Kimya Dawson do a cover. First Aid Kit would also be interesting.
