Tallahassee Turns Ten

July 14, 2012 04:39AM | Re: Tallahassee Turns Ten
Ugh. that cover is terrible. Totally saps all vitality from the song.

Don't mind me. Late night, early morning.

I like it. There are some points where Sean's voice hits notes that don't really fit, but overall it's pretty fun. Very fun to hear what he sounds like outside of AJJ too.

The arrangement is very nice! Personally I'm less keen on how the vocals were done / mixed.

Why's everyone in this thread a f***ing Mountain Goats fan?!

Got this song for a reward from Kickstarter for this project. Sean Bonnette from Andrew Jackson Jihad playing Ethiopians. I did the video, which is not sanctioned by Sean Bonnette, Andrew Jackson Jihad, the Mountain Goats, John Darnielle, Robert DeNiro, Martin Scorsese or anybody else. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

WC-Thank you. AJJ is my other favorite band and I was hoping one of you guys got that reward and would share it.

I don't know, with the slow, organ driven cover it kind of sounds like he ripped off the Society for Poor Academics version from "Hi, We're Not the Mountain Goats."

well i'm not sure that's how it went down, but i do believe that the SOPA version was definitely worth ripping off.

Haha I've listened to that so many times I got confused listening to this when they was no 'ah ah ai' before "tolls its minor chord''.
Thanks for sharing WC! I sulk every time I pass the pub I first saw AJJ in as it's now a Costa Coffee, and (im)patiently wait for another visit.
