The album is going to be released on November 5th, 2012 as a digital download. I haven't nailed down all the details for that, so stay tuned!

Yep.

Blade just contacted me so others should be hearing back soon about their covers. Did any forumers get in? I didn't and I'm crushed but I'm sure that there were lots of really fantastic bands auditioning. Maybe I'll post up my cover on the forums. We'll see. Still really crushed about it. Really put my heart and soul into this project and spent all day recording it. Oh well.

Posted mine in the Covers thread. It's been a lazy day, so I'm feeling more "meh" about it than crushed. Would've of course been great to have been chosen, though.

Perhaps we should make our own project, for the forum goers. Tallahassee Turns Ten 2.

Why's everyone in this thread a f***ing Mountain Goats fan?!

I feel a little bit better now tongue sticking out smiley There's no way that I could compete with the thrashing force of Metallica.

it's really cool that he is contacting people either way. i have submitted many stories to journals and heard nothing back whatsoever, one way or the other. i hate that.

True, Blade seems like a super guy and deserves some props for treating everyone in a dignified way. With that said, I was consumed with recording covers for about a month straight, which turned out to be a lot of fun. I had submitted six demos and none were chosen. I'm sad about that, but if anyone here helps to curate a TTTx2 I would be on board 100%. I'll try to put my stuff up soundcloud or something just to get it out there, i guess...

and someone should tweet at Metallica about it...

Mayhaps the next forum project could also be Tallahassee-centric, what with the anniversary and all. I know I'd want to get in on it!

Close. Kimya Dawson. No shame in not besting a Genuine K Records Recording Artist I suppose.

If anyone's interested my band's, it's this: [rcpt.yousendit.com]

Heyo Peter, I was just wondering how you knew the final tracks. I couldn't find them on the TTT website or the Kickstarter. Was just curious about the other songs smiling smiley

Peter was in the finals for "Game Shows Touch Our Lives" and I told him who he was up against. I haven't posted it on the Kickstarter or the website yet because we're still in the process of deciding on one last track. Everything should be officially announced by the end of the week (hopefully).

I for one would love to hear that. We got so many good demos, but couldn't accommodate them because of the space limitations. You could expand it to a collection of songs about the Alpha Couple, if you wanted. That would encompass the B-Sides and numerous earlier songs.
January 12, 2012 12:36PM | Re: Tallahassee Turns Ten
So what say others about that idea? If enough are interested we could make a dedicated thread for it and start to flesh out the process and what songs could/should appear.

It sounds interesting, and I'd definitely put a song in, but we do have two outstanding compilations that have yet to be released: the Simon Joyner Room Temperature tribute and the Topic Trading comp (and even I'm still putting off finishing up mine for the Topic Trading one).

So if whoever volunteers to organize this better be ready to put in some effort herding the cats.
January 12, 2012 01:20PM | Re: Tallahassee Turns Ten
I'm wondering if we have enough people still posting regularly here to fill one out, or ways to contact wayward members who might be interested.

I heard that No Children went to Justin Bieber.

Ironic, because he is a children.
January 12, 2012 09:26PM | Re: Tallahassee Turns Ten
... I was also hoping the next tMG compilation would go wih the getting chosen at random to collaborate on a song idea. But guess that could get pushed back to next year.

This shouldn't be too hard to put together though, considering Tallahassee only has 14 songs and several folks have songs that are pretty much already finished. Or one could just compile the songs by people who submitted but were rejected, but would be a lot of the same songs getting reprised then.

i'd submit to a Tallahassee forum comp, btw.

i'd even be up for a collab, but the danger there is that my lo-fi, shabby approach to recording, singing and playing would be at odds with some of the better produced/more establiished folks. I doubt i'd be able to bring anything to that particular table and would probably just limit the creativity that people working alone would have.

let's get dressed up in costumes and dance by the bar.

We should do another forum project for Tallahassee! I'd love to contribute. Nigel and I could do it together. (Take that as you will.)
