New Unreleased Song on Twitter.

November 03, 2011 06:10PM | New Unreleased Song on Twitter.
John just released Thucydides II-58 on Twitter, get on it if you haven't.
Here it be.

I for one, can dig it.

Re-posting my attempted other thread here:

JD just gave away a new unreleased demo via his twitter: download here

Explanation text:

So I looked over toward the right and see that I crested 25k followers recently. This calls for an unreleased song giveaway in my opinion
This song was what we call a "false start," I had a whole concept for a project I'll be announcing soon but it went in another direction
First explicitly ancient-world-related song in some time by my count. Here you go everybody!
Hope everybody enjoys! By downloading you sign e-blood oath not to be That Guy goin' "T58:2 sooo much better than [album track]" next year

And here that be.

Today is a good day.

for proper tagging/consistency purposes, is it "Thucydides II-58," or, as in the follow up tweet, "Thucydides 58:2"? anyone know lots about citing ancient texts?
November 03, 2011 06:29PM | Re: New Unreleased Song on Twitter.
The lyrics are as follows,

Quote

1, 2, 3 and
Red face at noon,
Stripped naked we can't get free,
and doubling over in the street,
dozens just like me.
Spreading like a rumor
Spreading like a rumor.

And the doctors come traveling house to house,
and they visit the sick each day.
Sit with them there until they're gone.
Die quicker that way.
Save who they save,
on their way down to the grave .
Spreading like a rumor,
Spreading like a rumor.

Run to the altars beg for shade,
take to the high sea thousand strong.
Hang on to your goodness when you can,
sweat it out all night long.
And listen for the old melody,
as it comes to me,
on a high wind down from Ethiopia
on a high wind down from Ethiopia
on a high wind down from Ethiopia
on a high wind down from Ethiopia

Thanks Zopilote Steel for the edits.

I can't wait until I'm able to listen to this song. Its name alone excites me.

Wait, is that a confirmation that there will be a new album in 2012? :-D

(I know that new albums are a regular occurrence for tMG, but it's still not something I assume)

Edit: guess I missed this "This song was what we call a "false start," I had a whole concept for a project I'll be announcing soon but it went in another direction" eye popping smiley

Potidea, Chalcidice, Thermopylae, the Peloponnesian war - finally my degree pays off! A nod to Dr. Andrew Erskine is in order here.

ETA: "plaguecore" - ha!

Once again, the comedic stylings of JD's ID3 tags make me laugh like a goofus.

Genre: plaguecore

The guitar in this is lo-fi in the worst way and it bugs me but the song is great.

It sounds like he opened up GarageBand and used the built-in MacBook microphone. I'm hoping he does this solo at a future show and we can get a better recording because I am in love with this song so hard.

Fuck, I already love this song. I'm a fan of the recording itself too, I like how lo-fi it sounds.

JD and tMG could have a best-of album called "songs evoking a sense of empathy for a person or persons living in the ancient past."
