Here you go. Still in the process of uploading and there are gaps that are being filled in due to several failed uploads (i.e. just because the last one in there is 2005 doesn't mean I've uploaded everything I have up to 2005 yet).

Here: http://freetexthost.com/qk4cr53ef6 is a list of all the shows I will have up followed by the file format and bit rate.

That Black Cat show in '04 was the first tMG show I ever saw. I'm looking forward to re-living some good memories!

Yeah it just seemed like too much work to go through and take out the ones that are also on archive.org. My upload speed is crazy good so I didn't bother.

Many thanks! Now, which of these are the bestest?

Why's everyone in this thread a f***ing Mountain Goats fan?!

HAHAHA! Is there something really bad about it? Haven't heard it+my computer says it's going to take 21 mins to load.
ETA: Cheers butter! Thanks for all the awesome shows. I assume these aren't all ones you've taped personally? If so, you certainly get around.
ETA2: Love that the '96 is from Belgium. Wonder what possessed JD to travel there in '96? Also curious if anyone had heard of him there back then. He was underground enough in the US let alone Europe.

You're welcome! No, I tape approximately none of these. I did tape the one show at the Varsity this year but that's it.

The WNYC one is the one w/ Suzanne Vega. I left feeling like it wasn't worth the $20, and I have a high tolerance for spending money on the Mountain Goats

afaik essen is not in belgium but in germany, lo-fi used to be pretty
big (well not really) but there was a scene...there were some european
labels and distros and festivals....so not that surprising. just a bit surprised
that has never made it to austria and avoids to play germany since 2001 (except that
one off in berlin)

True dat, fixed the filename. Also, deleted the 5 or 6 shows that can be found on archive.org.

Can't get the Essen one to work myself; my WinRar doesn't want to open it. :(

Ah well, it was probably an awful show anyway.

The 2-part shows require 7-zip which is a safe, free program. Unfortunately that is the only way I can upload a show that is larger than 200MB. It can be downloaded here: http://www.7-zip.org/

Same here, same here. 7-zip sounds cool but are these files .exe or.mi ? I don't want to download both.
Re Essen: That makes a lot more sense that it was in Germany. Saw that little vid from '95 about the German lo-fi craze. Had no idea about it til that vid but they seemed pretty into lo-fi at the time so JD going to Germany in '96 makes a lot more sense than JD going to Belgium.

Hmmm, interesting. I think Suzanne Vega's pretty good. What happened? Not enough tMG in the mix?

You can divide RAR files, and maybe even ZIP files. Slightly less obscure formats. Might give this other program a try and see if I can uncompress it.

He played to 100+ people in Dublin 11/96. There were two tours that year, spring and autumn (and the contrasts between the two go some way towards explaining why he didn't hit Germany again for quite a while - rave arrived in earnest in summer '96 and a load of monged kids showed up that autumn, full of the joys of pills, preaching the rave mantra). I saw the London show that March (w/Prolapse & New Bad Things) and put on the Dublin show in November.

Anyone happen to have an un-mangled version of "Standard Bitter Love Song #1" from the 1999 Crossing Border, Amsterdam radio show?

I don't think so. Are you referring to the skip in it somewhere near the end in the 2nd verse?
Re: A Bunch of Live Shows on MediaFire
November 14, 2011 01:42PM
Yup. Could've been the best version of that song, if it weren't for the sudden skip.

Not sure why you're adding all the nyctaper recordings, especially since they are all still on my server and readily available.

Because I wanted to add everything that wasn't on archive.org

without trying to get into any major old-school forum disputes, I think NYCTaper's point is that by putting his recordings on mediafire, you are lessening traffic to his site. NYCT makes some pretty awesome recordings of some pretty incredible shows, doesn't really ask for anything in return, and I think a lot of people on this forum try to support him anyway we can, and one way is to not put his shows up in other locations.
