sad smiley

I really love "Alpha Gelida" AND "Cobra Tattoo"!

My least favourite lyric is ...

'with the kisses of your mouth'

yeah, but it's kind of made up for with "...has a more complicated history than the american south"

At first No, I can't seemed awful, but you have to give it a chance. Solomon Revisited on Taboo VI might be the same but I never gave it a chance, so I just think it's bad.

Lonesome Surprise. Just kind of okay but then with the phone guy and the disjointedness it drive me nuts and makes me cringe.

I actually love that song specifically because of that, not really ironically but I find it to be sort of adorably disjointed.

I don't enjoy Taboo VI: The Homecoming as an album. I remember hearing a recording of a show where John said that if you're looking to get into tMG, don't bother with Taboo because the "real" first release is The Hound Chronicles (which I adore). On Taboo it's really hard to hear the lyrics and the whole sound just emphasizes the lo-fi nature of the recording. I have a friend who lists Taboo as one of her favorite tMG works, though, so maybe it's just me.

Agreed, I love it. But I'm the hugest sucker ever for multiple voices. And I buzzed about on my seat hearing them soundcheck w/ it in Dublin, albeit through a pub wall.

Pretty sure I've stated my dislike for Lonesome Surprise (probably just a page or two back), but the last time it came on, the voices didn't bother me nearly as much. It's definitely a good song.

Lonesome Surprise haters should hear the version from the Swedish American Hall show on 6/28/2012 (It's on archive.org somewhere), Allen is called (yes, I mean like on the phone) from on stage and there's some confusion so much of the song is just John singing, which is fantastic, but also it's literally weeks after Allen's heart transplant so it's cool to hear the first he's publicly sang since then.

I Wonder Where Our Love Has Gone is the only song I skip everytime. It just drags on for too long. At least I don't have to feel too bad about it since it's not actually a Mountain Goats song.

Hilarious - I was just coming to post this almost word for word as I've been listening to Sweden half the day at work but didn't even get through it once. I think there's a live version I've enjoyed but I can't remember off the top of my head.

Broom People & California song? shocked to see those named here.

Two Thousand Seasons has to be the worst TMG song by far, if it was meant as more than a joke.

Other than that and some covers (Jandek), Lovecraft in Brooklyn always gets skipped. Surprised i'm the first to mention it

Dance Music...I've said it before but I just don't like it. Respect it lyrically, but the actual execution of the song does nothing for me.

I do like the live slow version, though.

Taboo haters...have you listened to the actual tape or just the ripped copy floating around on the Internet? The cassette itself has quite a surprise.

Oh and to heck with all you sillys if you don't love Going to Alaska. IT IS ONE OF THE GREATS.

You're surprised to be the first to mention Lovecraft in Brooklyn, one of the 10 best Mountain Goats songs? I am not.

My personal most disliked Mountain Goat song is when he breaks a string in concert and belts out "I Wonder Where Our Love Has Gone" acapella. I really dislike it. A lot.

yeah i used to not be able to stand lonesome surprise, but eventually it grew on me and didn't jar me so much
i happen to love "running away with what freud said," and "going to alaska" is one of my favorite going to songs, super amazing, really wish i could hear it live, and really i'd love to hear the cassette LOL. also the covers are pretty good on it, but yeah the rest of the songs are a bit forgettable. i mean really just going to alaska makes it worth listening to cuz that song is so fucking good.

i actually kind of love the album version, but find the live versions i've heard to be a bit too grating
