There's a shit ton of Mountain Goats songs, which one's really stick out to you as not-so-good?

For me, Billy The Kid's Dream Of The Magic Shoes and Alpha Gelida have always been "skip the hell over these" songs. Alpha Gelida, something about the chord progression I don't like, and Billy The Kid's Dream just pisses me off. Azo Tle Nelli in Tlalticpac is one of my least favorites too, I've only gotten through it a few times, I saw it on a "Favorite TMG Song List" and I was like "whaaaaa"
Also I've always kind of had a thing against songs with the Casio SA-7 drum machine thing. I don't know why, I mean there's exceptions like California Song and whatever, but for some reason there's certain songs that I would love if it weren't for it.
This thread not to be confused with the Wurster tMG songs you don't like.


And, as a rule, no being an asshole to other posters because they don't like a song you do, different strokes for different folks, folks.

Not a big fan of "Alpha Gelida" either, in large part because I don't like the mental imagery of someone breaking the jaws of lion cubs with their bare fingers...

And re: Valerie the only thing better than Lonesome Surprise (tMG) is Lonesome Surprize (Refrigerator)

I truly love Lonesome Surprise, if only for Rachel's fantastically Rachelesque backing vocals! and the other ones people have mentioned, I generally love those too.

The only tMG song I really dislike is Cobscook Bay. And I have no clue why. I just don't really like listening to it, and usually skip it.

can get down with any song before full band. i like a lot of the band stuff, too, but i skip a lot of tracks from tallahassee and on.

Azo Tle Nelli in Tlalticpac, International Small Arms Traffic Blues, and Jaipur are the ones that, of the songs I've heard, do the least for me (or annoy me).

Also Stable Boy Song. For me the only real redeeming feature is the line "Here come the hours of wordless wondrousness." Apart from that, the whole similarity to a church hymn and the way John accents the word "come" bother me a bit.

I like it, but it's dwarfed by "Going To Marrakesh", its more fortunate step-brother.

I can't really stand "Two Thousand Seasons" or the Taboo VI version of "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry". I'm sure there are a couple more I'm not crazy about, but those two are the only tMG songs that immediately come to mind as songs I actively dislike.

Like some other people here, I'm not crazy about Cobra Tattoo either. Just find it a little tiresome. A shame, because I love so many of the other songs on the album--especially the ones just before and after it.

I'm sure to cop a beating for this too, but... I usually skip Broom People.

I really wish I had a short clip of Jon Wurster's "Whaaaaaaaat?" because I would be posting it as a reply to 99% of these.
