So yeah, as you may or may not know, some of us were talking about a collection of essays about Mountain Goats albums, and how it may be cool to put some together and put them out there. So, that is what we are going to try to do. I started a blog where we can put them up, at www.sadyoungcardinals.blogspot.com, and it will kind of be a first come, first served kind of blog. If there are enough of them, I may propose publishing a hard copy, but that may be a little ambitious at this time. So, a sign-up sheet kind of thing was proposed, and I think that is a good thing, and this thread will serve as that. The idea is to have essays on albums, but I don't see why we have to have that a make or break rule, so if you fancy writing an essay about a particular show, or even a song, that has touched you in a certain way, I say go for it.
As for parameters, I don't think there are many -- If more than one person wants to write about a particular album, show, etc., I say do it. I will put a 500 word minimum on each essay -- just so I don't feel compelled to post an essay such as
"LotWtC sucked" == but knowing a little bit about your average MGs fan, I don't think that will be a problem. If some glaring problem arises and a new rule or rules need to be added, I reserve the right to do so.
I guess I have volunteered to be the host of sorts, so once you finish an essay, send it to me at mhession63 at gmail dot com and I will post it without undue delay, and pop in every so often to let people know when essays have been posted.
So, sign up sheet should go something like this:
