I'd love it if you say, did something in europe or ireland of the same kinda par...maybe in a remote irish city! maybe not...maybe in a desolate part of Sweden that fans around europe could travel to!

I was the one worth leaving

Count The Fink in
February 23, 2007 11:44PM | Re: Question from John for MG People
Ok, so, a return trip would cost me around $5500 Australian dollars.

If I can raise that in time, I will totaly be there. (Granted, I'm a jobless uni studant, but there's always the lotto...)

how about the catskills.
February 23, 2007 11:59PM | Re: Question from John for MG People
This would totally be something i'd be down with.

Upstate New York is a beautiful place year round and i'd surely be up for a trip. Sounds like a great idea John.

Edit: I'd also consider having maybe another act (JV? or Franklin?) something "within" the community. Possibly some round campfire discussion, etc, etc. Who knows what it could turn in to.

if it were a weekend or anytime in August, I would totally be there. and I would be really really happy. and I would bring marshmallows.
February 24, 2007 12:18AM | Re: Question from John for MG People
okay then i'll bring chocolate and graham crackers. and other candy.

this would seriously be cool. but i've never camped out before, have you?

yes, as in monster...
February 24, 2007 12:23AM | Re: Question from John for MG People
I've done some camping, but nothing hard core.
February 24, 2007 12:30AM | Re: Question from John for MG People
okay well, i'd need some help on what to bring but I'm sure I could find peeps to help me with that. I hope it's in the summer, then I could just rent a car and drive to visit my family too.

I'm getting like burningman/woodstock/blairwitchproject visions of this event.

yes, as in monster...

I have a specific idea for this and am running it past people. There won't be any news on it for a while. I just wanted to sort of measure, realistically, whether it'd be a doable thing. We'll see!
February 24, 2007 12:48AM | Re: Question from John for MG People
I think it's pretty doable. Would it be more of a private fan thing or like... a very advertised get down?

Either way, I'd actually be close to this!
February 24, 2007 01:06AM | Re: Question from John for MG People
That sounds great! Summer camp! Pond swimming! Commune kitchen!Pancakes for everyone!!!!
February 24, 2007 01:30AM | Re: Question from John for MG People
I live all the way over in Oregon, but I would love to do this. It looks if I can get tickets far enough in advance, I can get a round trip ticket for under $250. It'd be worth it. Just please give a few months advance for when you'll hold this, and I'll be there for sure.
February 24, 2007 01:37AM | Re: Question from John for MG People
it just gives me more of a reson to visit new york.
and since we have made sevral long trips to see you guys.up and down the west coast on two tours about five years agowell worth it.

It sounds awesome. Except maybe, instead of upstate new york, it could be western australia?

Can we make it like...central Australia somewhere, Megan? That way I don't have to devise an all-out impromptu trans-Australia road-trip.

(Although that would be pretty awesome, if at all ever possible.)

How about...we work out the exact equal distance between Perth and Canberra (Uluru?) and have it there!

I would do my best to make it.
Buuut if you want an outdoorsy relaxed kind of setting you could always try to play fort reno in dc.... right.... right? that would have a massive turn out.

Mate, you're not arguing against Broome are you? I've been looking for an excuse to go there for ever. And in Northern Hemisphere summer, it's the perfect time to go!

John, I think your music is fantastic, and if I can get to see you play it I will. That is my committment, as a fan. Can't promise crazy Trans-Pacific fandom, but trans-national is a go-er.

Besides, we've got Tim Tams. And they come in choc raspberry flavour now. Tempting?

This is the best idea i've ever heard in my entire life. If this show goes down and I can make it. I'm pretty sure my life would be complete.

hell yes! the best part of it would be the setlist too! this is a dream come true for any music fan, a gathering of like-minded persons listening to all their favorite songs. ive seen three goats shows already that were a couple hours from where i live and was always kinda disappointed when i had to hear mostly the latest albums material -i know this is totally what has to be done and all, and i dont feel cheated. but my fondest memories are of those songs which are like surprises. the last show i went to i heard 'commandante' and it was so cool.

i think it is totally plausible, just like planning a ski trip or a festival. i love love love this idea. it is trailblazing!
February 24, 2007 04:24AM | Re: Question from John for MG People
hey, and look at this way: you dont have to hear people yelling out "play 'beach house'!" "play 'going to georgia'!" etc.

i hope its in august though, i will be in ireland til the end of july; id hate to miss this.
February 24, 2007 04:29AM | Re: Question from John for MG People
is anybody thinking about the possibility of doing a thing like this in Europe? Or, even better, in Belgium? You haven't been here for years! I've never even seen you perform live!
February 24, 2007 04:30AM | Re: Question from John for MG People
I think provided there's enough notice, I would be willing and able to do this

(And maybe it'd be a good time to do that LPTJ-related thing some of us have been talking about as well?)
