Question from John for MG People

March 22, 2007 06:44AM | Re: Question from John for MG People
So, John should write "Going to the Mountain Goats Get Together", and perform it there... it'll be like the t-shirt song... a one-time thing, and all of us who go up will be able to brag about it "Oh yeah, I was there for Going to the mountain goats get together!!"

ehh, it's late...

it was actually 2 7"s btw and the mastering date was 5/1, I cancelled it this a.m.
This is why you should be nice to everyone.

Except if these comments are anything to go by, then we'll all be there. Who will we brag too? Randoms at the bus stop? Old ladies riding their gopher carts? Sad faced emo boys in their simple plan t-shirts? Because I just don't think they'd appriciate the awesomeness. Well, the old ladies might. Do you ever get the feeling old ladies know more than they're letting on? I bet they go home and jam out to Jimi Hendrix whilst eating their all-bran. Or something. Maybe I should go to bed? Maybe you should go to bed.

Early September would be amazing.
March 22, 2007 09:46AM | Re: Question from John for MG People
Price of international flights-wise, Sept will be better than June/July...a bit.

people how important is the "summer" aspect of this? 'cause I'm thinking early September if that's possible

Yes, please! We're there.
March 24, 2007 03:52AM | Re: Question from John for MG People
I'm absolutely keen to do this and yeah I'd definitely come all the way from Sydney. September is probably best only because A) it gives us antipodeans more time to sort out tickets etc. and B ) I have ALWAYS wanted to see east coast US in the autumn/fall. I think it would be beautiful smiling smiley

Seriously, I'm there.

I think I could swing early September...

um, ok, I totally have to take back my vote. I forgot about a 2-week end of August begining of September job I agreed to. so it would be close to impossible for me to go then, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't. I just might have to build a time machine or something.
March 25, 2007 10:02PM | Re: Question from John for MG People
my last post got eaten, but there's no no no no way i could go in early september. but i mean, if that's what's best for everyone else, that's what's best for everyone else.

Sad. My semester starts in August!
March 26, 2007 09:40PM | Re: Question from John for MG People
Can't think of a better way to spend a camping trip. And upstate NY is gorgeous in late summer/early fall!
March 27, 2007 08:38AM | Re: Question from John for MG People
I wishhhh I could totally do this. And if it were three years from now I totally would. But I am uber poor and as I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be any time before May 15th, a ticket from Texas to NY state would be way expensive. Now... if you did it before May 15th I might be able to hop on a train from Boston despite preparing for exams and writing term papers...... haha. I'd totally get a C in sociology just to go!
March 27, 2007 08:46AM | Re: Question from John for MG People
Agreeing with someone up there about a show for each hemisphere. People might claim that it would ruin the novelty/point of the super hardcoreness of it all... but pshaw. POOR COLLEGE STUDENTS. Seriously. sad smiley (I mean, NY people don't even have to be hardcore other than to brave some camping. Haha. tongue sticking out smiley)

Also... two would mean more donations!

I vote for Texas (of course I'm biased), but if two were done the other would probably be in California, I'd assume. But Texas has good camping spots! And is just as hot as California!

hell fucking yes. how will we know if you decide to do it?
March 27, 2007 11:57AM | Re: Question from John for MG People
i'd be so so so so so so down if i were able to find someone to haul my ass to upstate ny for this.

& since everyones throwing in their own suggestions for date & location how about the basketball court outside my apartment complex [in coventry, rhode island] on june 21st, my birthday [as well as the first day of summer].

i'm dreaming, of course. upstate NY would work pretty much better than anywhere else in my opinion. unless we could get at a farm or big campsite.
March 28, 2007 11:45AM | Re: Question from John for MG People
this would be really wonderful, john!

The important aspect is advance warning.
I'll be in some remote part of the Yukon by then and will need time to get out.
March 29, 2007 11:56PM | Re: Question from John for MG People
Oh sweet lord if this happened I'd be there. It would probably more than break my bank but there's no way I'd be able to pass this up.
March 30, 2007 05:01PM | Re: Question from John for MG People
this is really really weird. first time i've been on your website since the new forums, and i find this...as though you've read my mind, except that it took a full year for my brain waves to get down to north carolina

i have a house upstate (NY) with a large field and tons of space (i live there and in brooklyn). i had a fairly big event there last summer and toyed with asking you to play, even going so far as to ask a close friend, who's tight with vanderslice, if you might be interested. he was game to ask but i felt like a fan/freak, too embarassed to ask...

i was going to offer money and/or i'm involved with a farm animal sanctuary up there and thought it could be a benefit for them, or another shelter.

ummm, yes? maybe? can i help?

i assume you can get my email from your data base whatsit. i'm shy for real and digitally, (this my first post ever on any forum, except a save-the-wolves petition i ranted to last year) so won't put more info here...

find me, if you want. or i'll try to find you through vanderslice ...

See, I was thinking southern hemisphere more in terms of, you know, Australia?
