They are good, the non-standard (flavoured) ones are the best. You folks know about the 'Tim Tam slam'? You bite off diagonal corners, put one end in your coffee, and the other in your mouth and suck like buggery, then shove the whole thing in your mouth before it falls into hopeless mush in your hands. It's great.

I need to try that but I don't drink coffee. Maybe it works with tea? LoL

Summer's not a good time for the price of flights from the UK, but I'd certainly consider it.
February 25, 2007 12:55PM | Re: Question from John for MG People
I would totally make the trip from Manchester, UK. I have concerns about my lack of geographical knowledge about New York though.

Great idea. Anything you were to attempt like this would be bigger than you imagine.

In my fantasy I picture you guys with a desert backdrop, though obviously not in the summer.

All Hail West Texas

If it takes place in an old '50s resort, I would like to request either A) "Give Your Mom Some Pie for Hannukah" or cool smiley any Sholom Secunda 1930s Yiddish Theater tune. I'll bring the vegetarian kishkes. thanks!

not like you need another "yay"(yea?), but "yay"("yea"?). count two folks from seattle IN.
maybe i can even convince my dad from CT to come along, show him what all of my fussing over the years has been about.
February 25, 2007 06:59PM | Re: Question from John for MG People
you kids feel free to bring your dads, especially if they are hot.

The trick is to only bite the tinst of holes into the bottom of the tim tam. And make sure the milo (or whatever hot chocolate/coffee beverage you prefer) is not too hot, because you have to suck really fast! Oh, but it can't be too cold, because the tim tams insides will not melt nicely.

I drove down to Pitchfork last summer with MG on my mind, and I'll be driving anywhere in North America this summer if this actually happens. Seriously, before I read this, I was planning a shotgun-drive with 3 others from Montreal to L.A./San Fran. We'd get there in two days; upstate New York would take considerably less time.

I've wanted to try this but they seem to fall apart the second I dunk them into the coffee, so I have always been afraid that it would end up disastrously as a lump of inedible mush at the bottom of my cup.

You have to be _really_ fast, as soon as that coffee-y goodness hits your mouth you get the whole thing in there. it's as good as it sounds.

Nah Jeb. Coffee. Coffee all the way. could be hot chocolate, but it'd be weird with tea.
February 26, 2007 07:56PM | Re: Question from John for MG People
I can see where you're coming from, but I still maintain that it's supposed to be with tea! Pretty sure it was some of my NZ friends who told me about it, though it coulda been someone else!
February 26, 2007 07:57PM | Re: Question from John for MG People
Also, it seems Wikipedia backs me up, if that's worth anything

(which it isn't)
February 26, 2007 08:06PM | Re: Question from John for MG People
LoL. I'm going with Jeb and using tea. Sorry Megan winking smiley
February 26, 2007 08:45PM | Re: Question from John for MG People
every Australian I met who told me about this described it with coffee

consulting wikipedia for anything except roffles = not recommended G
February 26, 2007 10:23PM | Re: Question from John for MG People
It's settled then. Hot chocolate it is. Haha
February 26, 2007 10:46PM | Re: Question from John for MG People
It's funny. I think my friends and I have always called them Tim Tam shooters.

I think any standard hot beverage is a goer. Tea without milk could be a bit weird tho. I would say some milk in the beverage is preferable, because milk goes better with biscuits than water, imo. But I reckon the choice of tea or coffee really depends on your preference for either drink.

In my next trip to the supermarker I shall have to get me a pack and conduct some comparative experiments.

And tasty experiments are the best kind.
