Apparently in Black Molly he says "cold, dead brain" instead of "whole damn brain". Maybe I have lots of lyrical mishears but I still don't realize them...

The first time I heard Your Belgian Things I thought it was "beneath the weighted bears" rather than "beneath the weight it bears". I'm not completely sure what I was imagining.

so uh, for nigh 10 years I have thought that Weekend In Western Illinois went as following:

"and we are hardly in love with one another.
we've got an unquenchable thirst in our throats.
we are, for some reason, all the time, believing
that we are friendless."

Yeah. Sort of changes the meaning of the whole first verse and I'm very annoyed at myself about it since it's one of my favourites.

your brain made the song better for you.

V. amused that it was while I was humming the intro to Game Shows Touch Our Lives that I remembered to look up what the hell "cry nines bitter" in Trick Mirror actually meant. (We say quinn-neen where I am.)

i must have misheard

"i hope i cut myself shaving tomorrow, i hope it bleeds all day long"

first.....tomorrow? doesn't seem like this guy is much of a forward thinker

because really

who would want their shaving cut to bleed all day long

"and I hope when you think of me years down the line"

como se whaaaa???????

i guess he doesn't say "i hope you die soon."

i mean, this song is about growing up and getting old, becoming an adult, losing that EDGE, becoming responsible and normal and regular with your loved one. going to bed at 8 o'clock. becoming sober!

it's a goddamn rewrite of "my generation!"

HOPE I DIE BEFORE I GET OLD

HOPE YOU DIE BEFORE YOU GET OLD

we will all get older real soon (check your swatch watch)

and soon

very soon

we will all die

but maybe

just maybe

"old"

means one hundred and twenty

(right pete!?)

I always thought that one line in Lion's Teeth was just "anHUSpaw Hisa HWoURN."

I would be grateful my children aren't here to see my posts,
If you'd ever seen fit to give me children.

When I first heard "First Few Desperate Hours", I heard

"Yeah, When cloven-hoofed Prince Turnip in the garden,
Yeah, When cloven-hoofed Prince Turnip in the garden."

JD who is Prince Turnip and why is he in the garden and what is he even doing there>?

My friend interpreted "punching the machines" not as video games, but as beating up robots.

Also, in Up the Wolves, I always hear "our mother has been absent ever since we found it wrong." I think that's a common one.

This made me laugh so hard. I love the mishears. They're always entertaining.

i was trying to tie no children to my generation and that somehow led to pete townshend, i dunno. there must be a lyric in behind blue eyes that explains it.

i can't explain.

Well whenever I hear The Coroner's Gambit, when JD sings

''when he showed me his new silk scarves''

I hear

''when he showed me his noose of scarves''

Honestly,I prefer my version

I kinda do too. Pretty cool.

When I went to the last show at the Ottobar, I heard Seeing Daylight for the first time. My partner swore up and down that during the chorus he was singing "Boy, oh boy!". Gave the song a much more positive vibe overall. She still sings it that way.
