(said audiences obviously put "sharing is caring" over "allowing me to share a private moment with an audience is caring"

i recently figured out how to play "international small arms traffic blues." i love that song. very dylanesque title.

though, i always forget to say OUR love is like the border between greece and albania. i keep slipping and saying MY love is like the border between greece and albania.

in fact, this song provided me with the only good idea i ever had about what kind of tattoo i would get if i were forced to.

it would be the outline of greece and albania together as one, with no borderline between them.

then i looked at a picture of greece on the map.

maybe i'll just get a tattoo of my wife's name spelled in barbed wire lettering around my bicep.

hey you know, i had to see what "duende" translated to, and, i don't know how accurate babelfish is, but evidently it means "douche" in spanish. who knew? hey, cleanliness is next to clodliness!

also, did you ever notice that the drums to "all tomorrow's parties" would fit perfect with "international small arms traffic blues?" maybe you didn't.

but i did.

people, we ain't gotta be uncool to duende. he is part of our community here. I don't know why he'd call my asking a favor (in one short sentence!) "a big stink" - I think me wanting anything different from what others might want counts as "a big stink," maybe; I personally don't feel like me saying "it's kind of icky to think of other people singing a song I wrote about me getting beaten when I was five, which I didn't release & asked the three or four audiences I played it for not to share" is all that weird; it's like somebody covering "Me & A Gun" - really? you want to sing somebody else's personal song about her own violation? that is very weird to me- but I can't approve of calling the dude names, you know?

sorry if this seems like the 2nd time I'm calling you out in a week mike, all love dude

If Mr. Darnielle doesn't want people singing one of his songs, his request should be respected, at least by members of the forum, to whom Mr. Darnielle has given quite a bit.

Still, how many women have sung "Me and a Gun" as part of their healing process, either at night alone in the dark, or proudly on a stage in some high school or bar? For the record, I do not believe it is weird at all.

well, maybe your frenchness is forcing you to compensate for it in english speaking pop music by transcribing so much great stuff! i'll pm you lyric corrections for the ones you have up so far soon.
